Found in an auction toolbox and not sure what they are used for. I assume you screw them into a gasket and retrieve it out of a bind hole.

Also used to remove the upper half of the old graphite impregnated rope rear main seal.

that is why I was going to give them away.

We use them for pulling packings and seals. I've always referred to them as pigtails

Old timers called those a "hogs ****" ! Packing puller though.
