Not sure if this will be in the correct area, if not please move.

I am looking at balancing the wheels on my Model A, to that end I was thinking of getting a bubble balancer due to space limitations. My question is: How good are they? I mean compared to a spin balancer type either on or off car style.

Thanks,

Mike

They are very simple to use. We use them on our drag car wheels/tires and we go 140mph with no vibrations.

Bubble balancers perform a static balance. That means they allow you to place weights in a single plane. Spin balancers can add the ability to perform a dynamic balance. They let you separate the weights into two planes (inner and outer) for better balance, but how much that matters deepends entirely on the width of the wheel. The Model A tires I'm familiar with are way too narrow for a dynamic balance to make any difference.

Having seen slow motion videos of how the sidewalls ripple on drag racing tires due to the enormous torque, that doesn't surprise me at all.
