Wheel balancer mounted in bus

Hi, I have a coats 650 balancer I'd like to use as a mobile unit. I'd like to hear any feedback on how well the calibration would hold up or if I should just save up and get a hand crank designed for mobility. I cant imagine having to recalibrate a machine every time I want to use it!

My guess is that bouncing it around in a bus probably won't hurt the calibration much, so long as you don't drive around with a wheel on the shaft. Take all the weight off the shaft possible (wheel, but also cone and cup) when moving it, and it will help to take load off the strain gauges.

Remember that a wheel balancer even massively out of calibration will still indicate zeroes on a truly balanced wheel. Calibration ONLY matters in the computer's determination of how much weight to apply in order to make the correct call on the first shot.

The ones we have at the day job have to be recalibrated every time they get moved so I’m guessing it would be the same thing if they were mounted in a moving vehicle.

Good food for thought, it doesn't take long to calibrate and I dont plan on doing high volume tires. I just work on so many cars that also need tires that I ended up with a tire set up.... the thought of putting all of this in to a mobile shop came from the fact that most of my side jobs are out of my truck so an old bus is perfect. I've seen it done before but I wasn't sure if the machines made to go on a truck were specifically designed for that purpose.. Thanks!
