Will that fit between the radiator and the engine. If so it would be great to loosen damper bolts.:bounce:

They're probably using those over in china to put together the olympic facilities. It's nice to have the adjustable torque setting, so they can dial it down until the bolts stop breaking. :lol_hitti

Hmm, something like that from HF seems as it could be very dangerous.

If your motor gives out, maybe you could use it as a temporary motor! hammer a bolt into the differential shaft, weld a chair and have a kid and/or little person hammer on it to get you where you need to go!

I recently had a situation where that thing would have come in handy. I have a 3-ton flatbed truck, and recently had new tires mounted. The guy at the tire shop used a 1" air impact wrench to tighten the lug nuts. A couple of weeks later I decided to pull the front wheels and brake drums to inspect the brakes. It took me two hours to get the lug nuts off; they were torqued to more than 1,200 ftlbs. I had to use the 2 foot long lug wrench with a 5 foot long cheater bar and stand on it to break them loose.

A week later, I took the truck to a brake shop and asked them to pull the rear wheels and drums and inspect the rear brakes. The mechanic got out his handy dandy 3/4" air impact wrench (set on full torque) and proceeded to go at the rear lug nuts. He tried for 20 minutes to get the lug nuts to budge and finally gave up when his impact wrench broke.

Holy **** batman, those nuts were really twisted on! So, there really are situations where a monster impact wrench can be usefull.

For changing truck tires, doing brake jobs, etc on heavy trucks we use CP and IR's that are rated to 1600 ft lbs. The lugnuts on a truck are torqued to approximately 450 ftlbs. Add some corrosion and galled threads and it takes a good impact to break loose the lug nuts. A good 3/4 impact rated to 1200 ft lbs should do well if the lug nuts are not corroded and are not stripped. Much quicker to use the 1" impact with the 6" anvil though.

Personally, i'd go with an Ingersoll-Rand 1" gun. they do a nice ergo grip gun that puts out 1,600lb/ft or something.

Of course you have to have sufficient air flow (CFMs) available close by to operate a 1" air impact, and a large hose (probably 3/4 inch, thats what we use on the 1" guns at work) Some truck shops may not have sufficient air, or possibly a road repair truck, might find the gas model useful, kinda like a cordless drill, 'cept its "hoseless".
