When did SO start making big boxes?

Reading the other thread about the old days for buying SO tools,I noticed how small the truck was,and was wondering how they would fit like a 72 incher in there.Anyone know when they started making the big and deep boxes? It would be neat to see what the ones from the 60's on up.Just wonderin'.

I have a KRA 397 big box 45" wide and deep with 7 drawers and side door and adoor in the back that opens horizontally .made in 1976 and rated 2000lb

I bought my MBC and MAC boxes in '67... 26" wide was the standard but they did make one seried wider... maybe 40"?

During thos years your had quite a box if you had a middle drawer add-on with a side cabinet...

I have a 1003 and was wondering how old it was, my snap-on guy was not interested in answering any questions about it wen i got it since i did not buy it through him.

That sounds like a really cool box! I hope you can post a picture of it sometime.I'd like to get some old catalogs,the oldest I have is from the mid '90s.
