Hi,
I'm looking at getting a second hand Snap on Techangle 3/8 torque wrench.

I've spotted one at the minute, its code is ATECH2FR100 (The code a new one from the snap on website has an A at the end)

It is dated APR/08.

Am I right in thinking that not all techangles had the Dual 80 head? If so, when did they come in, and will this wrench have one? If not how may teeth does it have and is it advisable waiting out for a newer dual 80 model?

All my ratchets are Dual 80 and I love them to bits, hence why I'm keen to carry on the tradition!

Thanks for the help
Rich

It likely will not have the Dual-80 head, though I am not sure when it started. My 3/8" techangle has dual-80 and I was pleasantly surprised. I think some of the regular tech wrenches are now coming with dual-80 heads.

You are correct. The Atech2fr100 uses the 936 kit.
The atech2fr100A uses dual 80 kits.

They switched to the A model early 2011.

I think (think, not know) the change occured at the same time as they switched to a better battery cap. Look at the black knob on the end, shallower cap and more pronounced knurling on the new ones, holds up way better, the older breakes inside and causes intermittent function.

Great, thanks for help guys.

Looks like il be giving this one a miss and waiting out for a newer one!

The reason im going second hand is i want to upgrade both 3/8 and 1/2 wrenches, which would be a massive outlay if i bough new, and with a lifetime warrenty, theres not really any need!

Thanks

The thing about torque wrenches is that they only have a 1 year warranty, then a flat rate repair after that. So they really are better to buy brand new.

Why can't they put dual 80 heads in click-types? 36 isn't cutting it for some tight spots.
