Every day I pull the trigger, load it with a full squirt of ATF from the oil can then run it over the trash can for a couple of seconds. Wipe off the excess and I am good to go for the day.

Whats your preference on when to oil your air tool, before use or at the end of the day for the next day?

Niether. I oil continuously with an automatic oiler. It was inexpensive and I set it up with male and female quick connects so that I can snap it on the airline just ahead of the tool I am using or remove it if airing tires, using blow gun, etc. It is way too easy to run a tool too long for the drop or two of oil put in the previous day or just before you started. I like my tools to last!

I always oil my air tools before I use them. Sometimes they even get a little more oil later in the day, depends on how much grinding I am doing.

Oh man, I didn't realize that you were supposed to oil air tools that often. Granted I'm only a weekend warrior I think I've only oiled my impact like 3 or four times and I've had it for at least as many years. One time it even stopped spinning until I added a couple drops of oil. This was with a cheap set of Norther Tools air tools too.

Guess I better get on the ball with this then.

I'm a bit obsessive compulsive so I actually oil them every time I have to reconnect my air tool. Air tool oil is supplied by the shop, so I don't mind. If you saw the air lines here, you wouldn't blame me either- you can use them as water guns...

Oh and speaking of which, there is something for this in a recent post I made on the Hot Deal Index:

From Amazon, Ingersoll-Rand Filter-Regulator-Lubricator - Piggyback Style on sale at $46.99, regular $219.00. The next closest price I can find is $134.99, so it seems like a good deal.

Does it being 1/4 inputs bind up the flow too much? It says its rated for 58 scfm which is a itty bitty bit higher than cfm...for example, air compressor has 1/2" outlet and you neck it down to the 1/4 for this thing, then on the other side you go back up to 1/2 for 1/2" hose, is that going to really restrict flow?

You know, I hadn't really thought about that and I really don't know- the way you put it makes that certainly sound so, but I suppose it depends on the application. Since I am just mounting it to the side of my service cart to power one tool at a time, I think I may be okay. Does anyone here know for sure? :dunno:

Thanks in advance,
