I keep nearly everything. I am still surprised how often I use some little thing I held onto. I engineer solutions all the time for stuff.

For example, my 2001 Dodge 1500 Ram driver window went out of whack due to disintegrated nylon bushings that attached to the lift arms and rode in the window track.

You can't just buy the bushings, you have to buy the whole regulator. They aren't that expensive (60 bucks) but the regulator and motor are just fine.

So my plan is to use a proper sized push nut to go over the nub and sandwich it between 2 nylon washers all riding in the track. All that stuff I have had for years just waiting....IT'S GO TIME!

I keep just about anything as long as it's not broken, stripped, rusted away, etc...

I throw old screws and similar stuff in a bucket and take it to a local zinc plating place once per year or two years. I have loads of freshly zinc coated nuts and bolts, even in finer threads. It's very convenient, I rarely need to buy such stuff...
