Now that SK has had their day, I'm wondering when we will have another day. I brought I up in the thread and some people said April, which is a long way off. I was thinking the folks that make this happen can do it for Christmas.

Maybe a Channelock or Klein tools day? Any input? Anyone support Christmas as a date?

A lot of us haven't got the SK stuff yet and you want to plan the next. Seriously though I spent so much it will have to be next year if I'm gonna buy anything.:eyecrazy:

I like the idea of keeping it special by only having one Epstein's day a year, and then one manufactures day as the opportunity arrises.

Any more and we risk giving the impression that we're hounding the companies for cheap tools, instead of having a special day to show our support and appreciation. Besides, if you eat ice cream with every meal, it quickly stops being a treat.

I am always quite explicit when I speak with tool company execs or representatives about the intention of these events NOT being to secure big discounts.

I will watch this thread to see what you guys want to do. I will also say that it looks like it will be a while before all the SK orders are complete. Christmas might be cutting it too close to the tail end of the SK Day event.

As far as which brand we might do, I am pretty sure that Jori could put me into contact with someone at Wright for a "Do the Wright Thing" event.

No but, you need to at least wait until the dust has settled from the previous event and all orders have been fulfilled. :wtf:

Personally, I want you guys to do Klein or Wright next, as I can easily skip those.

Maybe we should space out our support of large and small companies. Do a smaller manufacturer, like Westling Machine, so that people are not facing a massive wish-list that they need to save up months in advance for. Then do a larger company like Wright or Proto when people are saved up to go buck-wild.

Just a thought.

I agree that 4x per year to support USA manufacturing does not seem excessive.

A smaller one isn't a bad idea. I liked Enderes Day last February. Then we can save our pennies to "Do The Right Thing" in the spring.

Another idea is to do 3 or 4 new manufacturers a year, and then one Epstein day where we can include the past compaines or something. I know people (myself included) wanted another SK day next year, but there are a lot of others places too.

Ill be happy if Zoro blesses us with another big discount day this year. I'd also do the Wright thing. Every Wright tool I own is pure quality and some of it is 30 years old.

I'd be in for a Wright day, though it seems like something always comes up right before one of the support days that takes all my money I had put away...

Christmas is way too soon for me - I'm tapped until sometime next year outside of the few things I really need now for work. (blew up a dvm last week and dropped $80 on a replacement) and need some specialty tools now.
Smaller vendors like Wrestling would be better served by group buys - especially when they have very limited product lines. Supporting US manufacturers has to be done year round not just on certain days with others to get a discount. I'm all for Epstein's day annually, and 1 or 2 other vendor specific setups, but too much compromises what we're trying to do IMO.

I need another set of combination wrenches like I need a 1/2" hole in my skull but for some reason I really want a set of Wrightgrips ever since I dug 13/16 satin finish Wrightgrip out of a flea market dollar bin. These wrenches just piss excellence.

I'd like to get my SK order first though

What about a smaller manufacturer for Christmas then? I'm sure they'd appreciate it as well.

Ok. I understand people spent a lot on the SK day.

What about a "Klein tools" day. That's mostly pliers, something different.

If anyone is interested please post to show interest. Let's not wait until Easter.

I wouldn't mind an SK xmas event. Not as big as this past one, but maybe something 10-15% off for GJ only folks with over 100 posts. Add your GJ ID in the comments section and HJ can verify you. Make it for the loyal GJer's and not for people expressly looking for a discount.

Not sure what other American brands I would be interested in. SK had the most appeal and largest product line. I would participate in any event that GJ organizes.

Wright is pretty much what I'm waiting on. Xmas is just too soon. If I'm being honest I won't participate in a day around Xmas.
