So I'm building a 25x25x10
Galvanized Tube Steel 12 Gauge
Vertical Roof and Side
Two 10x8 Doors
1 Entry Door 1 30x36 window

Installed and erected $8895.25 + Tax
Double Bubble $10276.50 + Tax
Fiberglass 2" $11657.75 + Tax

At these prices I feel like I should just get the building erected and then do my own insulation. Want some insight first though

Price out the materials needed, add 10-20% and evaluate that against the bid.

had to double check myself, the fiberglass is actually 2".

The difference between just getting the building installed and getting it installed with 2" fiberglass is over $2800. Doesn't seem like a good deal to me. Just looking online, I feel I could get close foam spray for that although that will void the warranty.

2" fiberglass is cheap and I only need (25*10)*4 + (25*25) = 1625 sq/ft

Never even heard of 2" fiberglass. I have a hard time seeing that is worth it as it will only be something like r8.

Spray foam would be double that.

Does the builder give an R value with their insulation?

get this, guy said 2" fiberglass is R17?

I'm sure he's just reading it off of a pamphlet, i mean these buildings are preengineered, but wow and how.

2" of polyiso rigid board is only R12 at best. Something wrong there. Look at spray foam. With batt insulation it's a lot easier to install before the panels go on so keep that in mind if considering that and make sure it's vinyl backed if it will be exposed.

2" of spray foam over the entire inside. Add batts or rolled later,

so you wouldn't worry about any kind of warranty?

This stuff is supposed to be galvanized and the back of the walls and roof is painted, so rust shouldn't be a major issue. Unless we're talking 20+ years down the road.

Have them install housewrap before the siding. It will keep the foam off the metal and make it possible to replace panels down the road. If that doesn't keep the warranty, I would be suspect of their warranty to begin with

These kind of companies probably won't be in business by the time something goes wrong for warranty work.

Also, they will probably try to charge me for asking to install house wrap.

I'm assuming house wrap will keep the metal from sweating as well?

If 2" = R17 does the structure use the same algorithm? I hope you've looked at the actual building they're giving you and know it to be sound to the degree you need/require.

Here double bubble is a cheap bubble gum. After minute you've gotten your money's worth and it is just junk after that point.

No, just gives the insulation something to stick to instead of metal
