When to pour concrete floor for pole barn

I am getting ready to build a 24x40 pole barn and wondering if there is any issue with pouring the floor after the posts are set and before any walls are built?

Every video I see or every time I have seen someone build a pole barn the do the floor after the building is complete. I was thinking it might be easier to do it earlier in the process.

My idea is to set the posts, plumb them, put the grade boards on and then pour the floor. My thinking is without the walls and headers over the overhead doors it will be so much easier to get the concrete truck close to the pour. Also, seems like floating would be a whole lot easier without the walls and roof on.

I will be doing the concrete work myself with help from friends.

Any thoughts?

I see no reason if its well compacted. Make sure that some of your friends actually know how to pour concrete! Feed them well after its done!

I had a barn built back in the 1990's. They put up the poles and the wall girts, then poured the floor.

Worked great.

Me and this group of friends has poured a few hundred yards of concrete together.

In my build we had the poles, girts, trusses and roofing on, then poured before the side metal went on. We also used a pump to move the concrete into the building. $300 forthe pump and I considered it money well spent.

In your case I would think it would be wise to get as many girts and headers on as you can to hold the poles in place. If you have to leave out those girts that get in the way then do so.
