Just an update. The spring is still MIA

That $3.95 Proto rebuild kit at Grainger's is no longer available

But, I'm not giving up on finding the darn spring or finding a junky Fleet/Penens ratchet to use as parts. If anyone has one that's beat up and fugly that could be a cheap donor, please let me know.

There are alot of chiwan ratchets of the same style that usethe same style spring. I can usually find them at a swap for under$3 and use it for a donor for a classsic.

That is a good idea. But, I would not be able to tell just from looking at a pic in an auction whether the Chinese internals were the same as what I have....
