I was going through stuff and my grandparents and came across this. I never knew my grandpa even had a socket set. He said he hadn't seen it in years.

I was wondering when it was made?

It is almost complete, just missing 3 pieces I believe.

I'm not sure if they date stamped the "Allied/Cougar" line or not, it was kinda wrights lower priced line (made in TX last I heard) and now some of the line is imported. If I was guessing It could be anywhere from 90's - current.

or missing two pieces if the case counts.
Probably missing a couple of spark plus sockets and the one 1/4" socket maybe?

Looking at the list it front, it appears to be missing the 1/4dr 1/4 socket and 1/4dr extension.
And Hiball, what you say confirms my thoughts that its from the early 90's

I have two Wright Cougar sets in metal cases that look very similar to that Wright Allied set. They have gone to a plastic cases now, and I believe a different manufacturer.

The trademark name for Wright Allied was registered in 1985 and cancelled in October 2005.

I purchased the Wright Cougar sets new - sometime around 2000

We can probably ID the manufacturer if you provide more pics of the ratchet. If you search pas threads you'll see lots of poeple saying the previously USA-made versions were produced by Danaher (now Apex) for Wright. Who knows if the old Wright Allied tools were made by Danaher, though.

Now, they're imported. I saw one of the new imported Cougar ratchets a while ago at Harry Epstein:
