The jump seats in old Subaru Brats were held down with security Torx bits, so I guess if you owned a Subaru Brat you would get to use at least one of the sockets.

These are the security torx plus ones?

Haha it seems like everyone keeps chiming in on security torx which is not at all what I'm talking about. I have dealt with those numerous times.....
What I haven't dealt with is the tamper plus ones.....so if anyone has any pictures of anything or things that deal exactly with those and "not" regular security torx that would be great!
I knew this topic was gonna go off course quickly!!

Is this what you want for a picture? Find a DB2 auto pump and you will find them. Also DB4 pumps.

I know for certain they're used on P2 Volvos for at least the MAF sensor. Didn't have that tool at the time so they got a flat slot cut in them.

Female isn't a security version...therefore it's a six point. This has been a very confusing thread for most here.

Security Torx isn't especially secure. You can usually break the pin out of the center and drive it with regular Torx, hex key or flat screwdriver. And, of course, the proper tools/bits are readily available and inexpensive.

Torx Plus is far more of a challenge. Even if you break the pin out, neither a hex key or screwdriver has a hope of turning it. The asymmetry and rounded lobes are a tough geometry to fake.

I had a set of Konig wheels that the center caps were held on with Security Torx PLUS. Cool thread I never knew what it was called just knew the tool came with the wheels.

One of the first uses of them was iPhones. Really little screws that need -4 and -5 sizes to take out.

In an emergency or a sunday in Utah (when everythings closed) you could drill a regular torx bit in the center probably.

This has been a painful thread to read. It seems many are not reading the posts clearly describing what this is.

My old (circa 1981 or so) Shop Vac has them on the motor/powerhead. As others noted, typically where they do not want the average "Joe" to venture :).

But you couldn't have been more clear in your first post, mentioning 5 lobes, posting a picture...
Perhaps not all is lost, I mean surely some have been enlightened. I keep going back and forth whether it's worth it to point out what are the bad posts vs the good ones, but at this point it's best to just skip over the bad and focus on the good ones.

I have encountered 5-lobe security Torx Plus used on something electronic (video game system, smartphone, etc.) but cannot remember which one.

They used to be used on the cable boxes in the 90's so you could not open them up, insert a microchip and receive all channels for free, or so I have heard.....:)

I, for one, learned something. I never knew they had five lobes. When i have seen sets for sale I assumed they were just torx plus with a hole, never paid attention really.

I always wondered what it would take to get those screws out of my leatherman if I ever needed to. I thought maybe it was some proprietary fastener that would be hard/impossible to find. Anyone know off the top of their head what size they are?

And to add to the confusion Nikki fuel systems. I bought the torx tamper plus bits and they don't fit correctly. You have to beat them in with a hammer.:lol_hitti
