Where are snap-on tools made?

Since I am not a total tool junkie. I need some clarification.

I was told that Snap-On doesn't make thier own tools anymore. Is that true?
What about Blue-point?
Can someone give me a brief history here?

I foresee this taking a turn for the worse. They do make their own "hardline" tools but I can not say for sure about other things. Blue Point is made overseas.

Thats a Tough Questions because Snap on doesnt make "Everything" they Sell/stamp there Name on, They still Manufacture the Majority of the Hard line tools here in the US.

Blue Point? I really dont know if they Produce anything on that Line anymore, with the Majority (not all) of it being Imported.

It will be Tough, I know.. but try and ignore the Trolls that will with a doubt, show up in this thread. There is alot of Good Information here at GJ, Unfortunately.... alot of people who just want to stir the pot.

Go onto Snap On's website and look whatever tool you're interested in, it will list a country of origin.

When did Blue Point go off-shore anyway? I have quite a few USA Blue Point tools that are great. I imagine if I ever have to warranty one that I'll get Asian metal in return....

Not all the Blue Points are made overseas, it just depends on who Snap-On uses as the OEM for that tool. Lately more and more are imported though. These days SO uses Blue Point as a label to round out their tool lineup to include items that other companies hold patents on but need to offer due to demand.

Yes, up untill recently they were. I can remember when the BPs and SOs looked identical except for polishing and finishing.

I have a set of Blue-Point wrenches that are made in the USA. They look just like Snap On OEX wrenches only with a satin finish. I bought them new in 1991.

All of my Snap On tools are made in the USA. I know this because each one of my Snap On tools has a USA stamped on it. I do not buy Snap On tools with out a USA stamp. Still waiting for the New Dual 80's with the USA stamp.

This is true ^^^ Got some really reasonably priced Blue Point T handle hex wrenches that are US made awhile back that kinda resemble Bondhus.

i bought a set of BP combo wrenches back in the '90's that were not made in north america.

they've held up without a problem
