I run a small, non-profit animal rescue, that I self-fund. I need to design an attachment for a tractor, but have no design / engineering chops.

Any idea where I might be able to find a retired mechanical engineer that would like to work on a project for a non-profit?

Tried a local engineering school, but student projects have already been assigned for September 2021.

Thanks

Put an ad on craigslist. Or on fakebuck.
If you have a non-profit …. is there someway to use the website, etc.?
I know there are laws against using the NP assets for personal purposes, etc.

Where in the world are you? If in England then an engineer may be what you want. If in the US then a fabricator can probably do the job for you. Have you googled tractor attachments ? So many items already available. Tell us your tractor size and what you want to accomplish.

Any house party, gathering or mixer, the one standing alone at the chip and dip table.....that’ll be the engineer.

Actually, a decent fabricator can help. If you have a community college where they actually have a metal shop I might approach the instructor and see if they would make it a class project.

 But for every engineer at the party, there was 3 or 4 who found a way to avoid going to it.

I have a brother that is a engineer and my other brother and I and 2 sisters avoid him at all costs.
It's "caution don't ask him a question he'll go on for hours and not say anything productive"
Funny, I'm an engineer and I feel this way! Ramble, ramble, ramble.

Sorry! the intent was not to classify "them all" into one group.
Oh, no worries, as I did not take it that way. I was just thinking about some of the yayhoos that I work with. I constantly have to remind myself to quit making comments or asking questions. I studied engineering for my hobbies, which seem to need an engineering career to afford. However, I do work with and know some very competent and wise engineers.

Assuming you're in the US, check to see if there is a SCORE office in your area. https://www.score.org

SCORE, the nation’s largest network of volunteer, expert business mentors, is dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, grow and achieve their goals. Since 1964, we have provided education and mentorship to more than 11 million entrepreneurs.

They mainly help with people who want to start up small businesses, but may also be able to recommend you to an engineer.
