I need a 1.5" 6-point 1/2" drive socket. I would prefer to get a chrome one so that its easier to clean. Does anyone make such a thing? Snap-on only makes this socket in an impact and its over 50 bucks for one socket.

Its for Caterpillar drain plugs

I found a no name chrome deep on ebay.com for $27 and a no name deep impact
on amazon.com for only $12. I'm sorry but I can't paste the links on the devise I'm
using. Do a search but use 1-1/2 instead of 1.5.

Cheers.

duralast sockets are very good sockets in my experience, all of my large SAE size sockets came from them with no problems.

How do you lose a 1-1/2" socket. Thats a big heavy socket.
And last time I was at autozone and walked past the duralast stuff hald the socket already had the chrome peeling off them. Maybe in the past they were decent but from what I can say form what I saw recently not soo much.

get this and an adapter for less than $50 then you would have a lot of sizes.

I needed a LARGE socket a while back for the harmonic balancer on my jeep. I think it was 1-5/16(?). I bought this set and never looked back. It's come in handy on several occasions since then.

I never thought I'd need a bigger socket ...and then my Dad left a 5 gallon bucket of 1" drive stuff in my garage...

Chrome Peeling? I am not familiar with bad fit & finish on their sockets. I just bought a few individual sockets the other day and did not notice any defects in them.

I have probably 12-15 duralast sockets in my sets as fill ins for sets that skipped or I lost, and a set of large SAE 1-1 1/2". I abuse all of my sockets, I use chromes on impacts, hammer them onto stripped bolts (rust belt), use them at the press etc...

With that being said I must be lucky, I haven't warrantied a socket in probably 4 years with everyday use and abuse (duralast, craftsman, cornwell). Some don't look pretty anymore, but I have a toolbox not a jewelry box :)

It is REALLY easy to lose one in a pile of +/- 8" rock, and easier yet to lose one in a 50+ gallon drain cart. Seeing as I don't like swimming in used oil, when one goes in the cart, it gets written off.
