Where did all the Parker Vise Collars go!?

Pretty amazing when shopping Parker vises - so many are missing the collars. Real shame. I want to believe there is a huge barrel of them somewhere - I'll stumble on it probably after I die and am in heaven.

Now, I need to stop buying vises without collars! Even if they are cheap!

Years ago there was a guy out west who made a few collars in a college foundry. I actually think a hobbiest with a milling machine could knock one out too. Now to find that guy!

Tell me more! Not sure where I should go but willing to talk if you can me me a collar! Parker Model #23. I can meaure.
Can you post up a picture of what you need, drawing with measurements, and when your coming over? In other words listing your location may find you someone local to you that will do the same.

There's a reason why so many broke...kind of a design flaw...they work fine until the vise gets rusty, or the slide gets mushroomed or cracked.

People crank on them too hard trying to get them unstuck, and it's just a thin casting that breaks easily.

I use to make them and found out no matter how many I made there was still more that I didn't have designed. Here are some of my drawings. Here is a blog I wrote on making and fitting Parker Collars. Good luck.

These drawings are fantastic! Wow. I’d imagine the frustration of so many varieties would get old - quick!

Thank you Mr Scott.

Gman now you understand why it is important to have you and the vise in the shop because of the many variations out there and so many 'fitted' parts. Can you even identify one of Mr Scotts drawings that may work on your vise.
