Even though the endless threads about "SO" and "HF" are always enjoyable, sometimes I'd like to look at a girl in a bikini. I can't imagine Zeke wouldn't.

If any mods are listening, it expands your membership having something other than pictures of Tommys garage to look at...

Well, the way I see it is this:
The "Mods" are in charge. "They" warned and warned. "They" did what "they" thought was right. Rightfully so. There are Moderators for a reason.
Am I going to miss it? Hell Yeah! After all, it was started by a woman. But I don't run the place and it's definitely not going to keep me from coming onto this board. I like it here, and I'll stay as long as I'm welcome.

Instead of deleting a thread that a lot of members enjoyed, the offenders should have been suspended or banned. Classic case of punishing everyone because of the actions of a few.

Some members did get banned. These banned members that posted links to **** sites and bad links with Malware.

The topic would not be safe to be revived in any way shape or form as it would be almost impossible to remove every bad bad link that was left in the topic.

The members that got banned never contributed to the forum in any other way in fact they only ever posted in that one topic. Roughly about 60 posts give or take got linked to the members that have been banned.

Topic is dead and gone so move on. Lesson learned from the topic is if you post dangerous links then it is not good for other forum members.

One last suggestion or a warning to any one that enjoyed that topic. If you have an antivirus or anti malware program would be run it as the topic was full of malware and links to bad site via photos.

I am aware of two members of the forum that have reported issues about the time of the final warnings and when the topic was closed and removed that found computer problems due to malware issues.

I don't think it's going to be a problem.

You can delete another 100 from that list as one very obvservant forum member noticed the other day 100 new members with the same name starting from 100 through to 200. IE Max100 etc. Now sadly some of theses spammers found the forum obviously due to a popular topic. Each one of these had to be removed and banned manualy.

If you enjoy the forum for what it is then forget the topics that get out of hand.

This thread reminds me of the kid on that TV show "Parenthood" who is fixated on why the vending machines were removed from his school.

In my weird way of thinking... it's like, when you search Youtube on "How to " video whether it's woodworking, auto mechanics, electrical, or any guy related stuff. You ALWAYS ALWAYS see a link with some *********. :eyecrazy: :eyecrazy::eyecrazy:
Youtube is sneaky, they are fishing and when you click on it, statistics are generated. They hit the males in their weak spot.

Well, in this case the mod in question posted in the thread more than once, reminding people not to post stuff that isn't allowed here i.e. "nips and lips," so to speak. He then made a final post before closing the thread. That sat there a while until he deleted the thread.

So, if people loved the thread so much and were in it all the time, did no one even bother to notice the mod asking for cooperation? Everyone was blinded by *****?

there were a few non-mod members that were reminding posters to be careful with the postings or it would be shut down. I was one and I think a bunch could feel the writing was on the wall the way it was going.

Glad to see it gone.... When 12-14 year olds views this forum, they and their parents are going to look at Garage Journal as an interesting and educational site..... At a glance, that HW thread title gave the impression of Garage Journal as being one of those "trash sites"..... There is enough of that **** on the internet... Again, Thanks For the Housecleaning.

That says it all.

I would like to encourage my young nephews to develop a passion for vintage tools, U.S. made tools, and quality tools no matter where they are made. I'd like them to learn from you guys who are experts at so many trades. I'm glad they won't get distracted when they land on this forum to look up stuff they got at the swap meet.

I think that some of you guys forget that you're guests here at GJ. Ranting and raving about what that mods do or don't do is a waste of time. They did what they felt was the right thing end of story.

In my short time here (I'm a 2012 guy and all) I can't believe how much some of you guys get away with. I would say 10-20% of the members here would be banned at most forums. I think the times are a changing.

I recall you posting those comments recently.

Would be nice to see younger members here enjoying what this is about without the distractions. Still you may need to help them avoid some topics. ;)

Again a pointly reminder if any one is having issues at present with a computer check for malware. It was not just out of hand posts and comments but some of the links had become dangerous. Many reasons as to why the topic was removed in the end and not just one reason.

I posted plenty of pics in that thread but near the end even I was amazed at the cheek of some people posting ****. I even suggested that the mods may as well shut it down as it had passed it's use by date. I sure won't miss it. There are tens of thousands of other sites with the very same content. Feel free to go there if you aren't happy on the GJ.
ps .. I even swore in one post and had that removed ... lol

Good work Mods.

I would agree with this to some degree. Many of us are guests here, but Alliance members pay for privileged access correct?

When you pay for access, you become more than a guest IMHO. You have a right to state opinions and suggestions and have the expectation of being listened to.

Am I wrong in that?

Talking about closed threads or Deleted threads, I see one I posted was deleted and it was about the Chevy / Dodge trucks pull, but it was a thread that there was already another thread on the same topic. SO when I looked at the original thread that was posted up, it's locked. What's the deal with that? No one got out of line it it that I saw.

We ( well I did ) signed up for the Alliance to help the Journal out..show support, and get discounts from the vendors on the site...that is all. Other then that it is all the same.

Click on the View Forum Leaders. That way you can see all the Mods and Admin.

So the mods and admin will not listen to members.:dunno:

Nice to know.

Never been a member of any forum where the mods and admin do that.
And I belong to about 30 or so forums.

You will find all the Admin and the Mods are just like you we all have the same interests to be on this forum if you need help you will find them willing to help.
I read your comments so what does that mean ?

isnt this how communism started

This forum is owned by some one and like every one here you and I are a guests. If you smoke and visit me I will tell you not to smoke at my house as they are my rules.

Kevin PM me about that and I will look into it for you.

Edited Note: Kevin is this it ? http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=178923

I never had any use for "off topic" threads or folders in forums. Wanna talk politics, find a political discussion forum. Wanna talk your pet, find a pet forum.

I kinda agree with you here. But on the other hand, when a few of my friends come over and we're hanging in the garage, there's NO topic that is not allowed and the conversations just lead to wherever they feel like going... Shouldn't a Garage Forum be the same?

The Alliance members pay to help with the running costs of the forum. That doesn't give them the right to say whatever they want especially when they or anyone else are bashing the mods here. Its all about respect and forum etiquette.

I remember back a ways, when Ryan told some to cool it a little, and he mentioned that he like the Hot Women as did others, and didn't have a problem unless it got out of line. And at that time, it was on the brink of getting out of line and a few pics were deleted. Just like anything, things go a little farther and a little farther until it's deleted. Another thing I have noticed is that the Mods are here to moderate the threads. When Ryan steps in and says something, he's only going to do it once. I've never saw Ryan warn anyone more than one time. He also warns the group and won't call people out individually. When he does that it forces us, as members, to self moderate things. If that doesn't happen, **** goes by the wayside.

Personally, I'm really surprised that the Hot Women thread went as far as it did. When nips and lips start showing, I knew it wasn't going to last.

Nips and lips. Lol. I feel bad for any young kids that were tainted from this. I guess it's not a **** site so I think the right thing was done.
I always tell guys at work not to text me those nasty joke pictures, don't want my family to see that trash.

It was good while it lasted and I enjoyed seeing the pics from time to time. I have my own nips and lips at home so no down time on that account. Carry on men!

Why is this thread wasting space in the General Garage section?
Shouldn't this be in "Free Parking" where non-garage stuff goes?

Well techically it should not even be in Free Parking (Everything related to the toys we park in our garages. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, jetskis, etc...) it should be in the Questions & Suggestions (Got questions about the board? Maybe a suggestion or two? Fire away...) area of the forum.

Seems like many folks didn't understand my question/statement. I don't think Alliance members can do whatever they want, bash others, **** on the mods etc etc.

I just asked a simple question as to expectations regarding Alliance members. Should they expect more seeing as they pay to help the forum? I don't know.

Anyway, forget I said anything. Too many thin skinned folks around here.

Alliance members get what they pay for as stated by others earlier. They get access to firms that offer a discount via both the GJ and HAMB forums.

Alliance members get treated the same as any other member of the forum. That also means if they do the wrong thing on the forum they get the same treatment as any other forum member.
