I searcher CL for a nice, old floor model. If you can wait, and search, they are better than most stuff out there today. My other new option was a Sears model, but glad I waited.

I don't have a lot of "fabrication" tools, but the Multitool disc/belt grinder is something I've always wanted. I almost bought one when they were introduced. Back then they were under $200.00. Now they're about $500.00 with all the bells and whistles...

I have a Jet 6x48/12" belt/disc sander with stand. Bought it in the early '90s. I have seen some real POS units at other guys' shops. You don't have to buy a Jet, but do try to buy the real one that uses 6x48" belts and 12" discs. Those are clones of a machine made by Rockwell for many years, and well designed. The little ones can be real nightmares.

I bought mine new for about $550 in about 1994. I expect they've gone up since then. I believe mine is model JSG-6.
