I ran a search and came up with nothing. I am in the process of building a blasting booth at my house and i am trying to find the best deals on media. I went to the website of that guy in michigan, and it had alot of good info, but are there dealers that are less expensive? I am going to be blasting old cars and i have been told that slag would be the best, how much do you guys pay and where? Thanks Blue_oval23

Depends on what I'm blasting, but I've had pretty good results with the Harbor Freight media. It's cheap and their shipping is free or very low cost which can save a lot compared to other vendors. Do a search on their site for "aluminum oxide" or "glass bead".

Does anyone know if glass media dust can cause silicosis? No right?
Only if it contains silica. Read the MSDS on it, it will tell you.

I bought some the other day from tractor supply that said FREE LOW SILICA

whats that mean, I have only used it for about a 2 minute timeframe, I was wearing a dask and the cabinet held all the dust........if its no good thats fine, I only have 5 or 6 bucks invested

Have you looked in your local yellow pages??.....you know, a phone book!! .....that's what we had to do in the 'old- pre-internet days'.....(which was only about 10 years ago!!:headscrat

Yahoo has a 'yellow pages' section....do a search under 'sandblasting' for your town.

You might also try equipment-rental places. They often rent sandblasting equip, and should have blast-media avail for sale.

Mail-order can get expensive when you factor in shipping costs.....

I use black beauty. I'm pretty sure there is no silica in it. I get it from a local blacktopping business.

i went to our local cement and lime place......i bought black beauty and sand.......i won't use the sand after i read/thought/heard of the silica hazards........

besides, for steel, black beauty is hard to beat.......

eventually, i want a cabinet for glass beads and black beauty...

got any pics of your cabinet?
