Where do you buy your Milwaukee Tools?

So I recently purchased a 1/2 impact Milwaukee stubby. This thing is phenomenal. It is my favorite Milwaukee tool yet and I have about 12 or so. I can take wheels off of cars and trucks with it all day long. Today I replaced Lower Control Arms with it and had to drop an engine cradle with it.

Now I want to get the same gun in 3/8s. Any idea where to purchase from? I am leaning towards Home Depot but may go elsewhere.

I used to buy Milwaukee power tools from a place in Bay City, Mi. and from Grainger. I was bouncing between Milwaukee and Porter Cable at the time. When Milwaukee began overseas production I stopped buying them. It was only a matter of time but I was doing my heaviest buying of power tools at that time and I wanted domestic. I haven't bought anything Milwaukee since.

So I take it you just don't use power tools anymore?

I didn't mean to imply that. The gist of it is that I haven't bought anything Milwaukee since then. I have and use a lot of power tools.

Look for construction supply houses in your area. Some plumbing, electrical, HVACR supply houses can get better deals than Home Depot.

Price wise, Milwaukee definitely has a price floor that authorized dealers cannot go under. I'd go with whoever offers you the most freebies (ex. free extended warranty) and runs the best promotions that fit your buying needs. That will be KMS tools in my case.

Damn, you guys not get salt up there or is my M12 stubby broken?

I can't undo really any lugnuts with mine :(

As for where I buy. International tool, Ebay, Home Depot, in no particular order

I really don't buy into the stubby being a steady solid performer in the lugnut removal on random road vehicles

Yeah, I'm not buying it either. I tried it on a bunch of cars the first day I got it and failed to remove all but a handful of the lug nuts. Felt like an idiot too, hammering away with no joy. I am curious because mine is 3/8" drive, so less impacting mass and force behind the smaller 3/8" drive sockets, as compared to the 1/2". That said, my mid torque fails on occasion, but I live in MN, lots of salt/dirt/grime on the cars rolling in. I just realized I haven't tried it on a new car, but maybe Monday I'll grab a PDI and see if it can do ~149 NM.

Sorry to derail the thread, just curious what kinda cars OP is regularly doing lugnuts on.

I also buy from whoever has the best price. Acme, Toolnut, ToolBarn, CPO, etc. My very first Milwaukee tool(s) was a hammer drill & impact driver 5.0 kit from Acme when they had the 2 additional free 5.0s deal. Made the switch when my Dewalt got stolen. Co paid for the replacement. So happy my Dewalt got stolen. :)

Bare tools I have mostly bought on ebay during ebay sales, way cheaper than anyone else. I've never bought a Milwaukee tool from Amazon even though I buy a lot of other things from Amazon.

I also didn't didn't go with the M12 Stubby for lugnut removal. Although I know plenty of people do & it can for properly torqued lugnuts I didn't want to rely on that. My old IR 3/8" air impact could take lugnuts off but still I didn't use it for that reason when I worked at a shop. I went with the 1/2" Mid Torque. Had the High Torque before that but didn't need all that power for suspension work & lugnuts, too bulky & heavy. Gave it to my brother so I can still borrow it if needed.

I ended up getting the M18 3/8" compact impact even though the M12 Stubby is more powerful. I didn't want to invest in any M12 tools or batteries cause I have mostly M18 but had no choice with the M12 ratchet & right angle die grinder. Plus I think the M12 Stubby looks funny.

Brand new 1/2" one key high torque on CL I can get for $120.00 but I really don't have a need for it, but that's a deal so I might jump on it.

I've bought most of my cordless M18 on ebay. Usually get bare tools and batteries separately. Rock bottom prices.

Initially I got the 2454-20 3/8 fuel impact. It has 1400 InLbs or 116 ftlbs. It would remove some lug nuts where I am, but not all. Keep in mind, I live in Southern Va 50 miles from NC. We dont get a lot of rust on vehicles.

So I wanted a cordless for my 1/2 impact sockets. I watched a video on youtube and decided to go with the 1/2 impact stubby (2555p-20). This has 3000 inlbs of torque (250 ftlbs), or more than double the 3/8s 2454-20! Mine is in the 1/2 in form and I use it with my 1/2 impact sockets. It does pull standard wheels with out a problem to include big pick up tires.

Supposedly, their 3/8 stubby(2554-20) is identical in torque as their 1/2 stubby, just with a different anvil size. Because the weight/mass of a 3/8s socket is different than the weight/mass of a 1/2 inch socket, along with the mass of the anvil, I am not sure if it will work to the same level, but I want to find out and will purchase one this week.

I cannot recommend this 1/2 stubby enough. I work as a tech and it does 95% of what I need. I have enough air tools on the few occasions I need something else. Check out some youtube videos on it. You will be impressed.

Home Depot, during the monthly Menards 11% rebate window. My HD matches... in fact they make it easier to get the Menards rebate than Menards does!

Rust or not, 116 LB ft isnt breaking most lug nuts free.

I guess I am glad to have a high torque 1/2. It is heavy, but always get it done

Sorry...perhaps you missed the part that this thread is about the newer "Stubby" model that has more than double that...250lbs of torque.

It's been a mix between ebay, the facebook milwaukee tools group, amazon and international tool with the majority being ebay.

Ebay:
M12 3/8 stubby impact (GREAT impact, love it)
M12 non fuel 3/8 ratchet
M12 3/8 chuck non fuel drill

amazon:
M12 Fuel 1/2" chuck hammer drill

Facebook:
M18 1/2" High torque two 5.0XC and charger kit

International tool:
Fuel Super Sawzall with free 8.0XC High Output pack

All the Milwaukee stuff I've purchased is awesome. Especially that 3/8 stubby, pair it with a XC M12 pack and it has such a punch to it. Great great impact, highly recommend it to anyone.

All my Milwaukee tools have come from the ACME Tools retail store about 30 miles from my place. They usually have WAY more selection and inventory than any typical Home Depot would have. For example, if you're looking for a 1/2 Fuel impact.... ACME would have that tool in either pin, ball, or hog ring anvil.
