Where do you find out what constitutes a 'full set'

I'm trying to complete some sets: wrench, socket, screwdriver, etc.
Where do you guys go see pictures of what specific items were originally in a 'complete set'? I'm mostly into vintage Craftsman, but can't find a good website. Thanks.

ZEEMAN: some of the guys have copied the Craftsman catalogs to their laptops and i have in my old laptop that i still need to transfer pictures off of. there was a DVD of all the vintage pre 1970 Craftsman catalogs that one sort of member was selling here and on Ebay, but i think he passed on to the great tool chest in the sky.

check in general tools section of GJ for Craftsman because i think Outlaw actually put many of the early years of Craftsman's tool catalogs on a thread he started.

if you don't find it just ask and me or one of the members will help you or maybe Outlaw will see your thread. what years are you looking for?

Contents will vary, the Sears/Craftsman catalogs might be of assistance.

Rose Tools put an extraordinary amount of time and effort into scanning the catalogs amassed here. While the website hosting this resource has been taken down, Rose Tools has given permission to host them here.

I find you inevitably encounter a fastener or situation you do not have the tool for, and at that point, your set is no longer full.

Thanks. Great info. I have an assortment of years, but mostly 60's and 70's tools. I'm not trying to make a museum quality set or anything, but I am curious as to what I might be missing, and what was available back then.

True. I'm just interested in seeing what was available with good pictures. I'll never have a full set, but it will be fun searching for stuff I might need.

I have been thinking about creating a spreadsheet of all the different Craftsman wrenches I own and store it in the cloud and that way when I'm at a flea market or swap meet and I see a wrench I don't have already I'll pick it up. Its hard to remember whatcha have or don't have when your out and about.

I have cheat sheets that I try to take with me to the flea market. I'm working on three wrench sets, and three socket sets to give to my sons for Christmas. I'm trying to pass on the fun of collecting old USA made tools, and Craftsman in particular. It's a chore to try to make up sets one, 50 cent socket at a time, but it's fun too. Here's how I'm keeping up with the socket sets at this time.

drivesitfar No I didn't pass away. Stop with your rumors please.

David

Good to hear from you David! I bought your Craftsman catalog DVD two disc set a few years ago. It’s a great resource that I refer to frequently. It was worth every penny!

Mr.C: First of all I didn't START A RUMOR that you passed and several other members that bought your DVD mentioned it, but happy to hear you didn't. I do think you are a little late to the party though with a 2 year absence so glad you came back to join us.

I heard your DVD was amazing and sorry i'm not into Craftsman tools that much, but i do like them and the old stuff especially cause it's all my dad bought. seems like we'd head to Sears weekly to get popcorn and get more Craftsman tools.

WELCOME BACK

are you still selling your DVD's? I think GJ took the minimum 100 post minimum off of the Classifieds if you'd like to post an ad here you might sell a few to members that are rapid about Craftsman.

I haven't been actively selling the DVD's, since Ebay had a problem with me. Even though I had a 100% positive feedback, Ebay falsely accused me of defrauding customers. I was an instant villain with no recourse. They further extended that to my Paypal account. That place is so mismanaged. i googled the problem online and found many others with the same story. F em.

I get occasional emails from people wanting to buy the Craftsman DVD set and am willing to accommodate them in any way I can. My main focus in life lately has been my fiance and 2 adopted daughters in the Philippines. I have been supporting them for the past 4 years and guiding them through school and college. My fiance and the first daughter will be here in CA sometime late next year, followed by my second daughter after she finishes her bachelors degree in 1 1/2 years.

For anyone interested in the Complete Craftsman DVD set, i think I have 4 or 5 copies left. Afterwards, I may upgrade them to memory sticks, as some newer computers don't use DVD's. i think some of the laptops are that way. They are $65 including flat rate USPS priority mail with tracking. I also have some unfinished projects, if anyone wants to carry the torch with them. They include a ratchet timeline with all the details. A Craftsman decal set with large and small decals for the first 4 Craftsman logos. Both are essentially finished, i just haven't put the craftsman ratchet timeline in a polished finished product, and the decal sheet is just the finished computer file, ready to be printed on decal sheets. The cost to produce the decals, vs what people are willing to pay, just isn't worth it to me; as I believe the cost for me to produce it, is most likely more than others are willing to pay me to even break even.
