Where do you store your power tools?

I have this monster cart, that looks like an airline luggage cart. I was thinking about making it my power tool storage. I just want to see what everyone else does.

Most of mine are in a metal cabinet that's about the size of your luggage cart.

It's under the metal top with the vise.

Jack your garage is as always an inspiration. You need to show more pics of it when it is dirty! Can I see a pic with the doors open? Just a little peek!

Thanks. The garage is very messy right now. I'm working on a few different things at once. This morning, I've been bending 1/2" square tubing for a little mini-canopy cover for one of the outside-the-garage cars.

Here's a shot of the inside of the cabinet. I just store the tools on flat shelves. One is mostly drills; another is mostly saws. They're not all put away in this shot.

Office file cabinets. Make sure you get the good older Remington-Rand, Steelcase or similar high end units with full extension slides. They go for dirt-cheap these days.

I got the idea from one of the guys on my post, but I use one of those old heavy duty metal desks. You pull off the top and stack then up. you usually get 4 thinner (6") and one big one 12"

In storage box that comes with or I find boxes they fit into. I travel with my tools too much to not have accessories with the tools all the time. Blades go into saw cases, grinding wheels with grinders, etc

Free standing wire shelving, and on the bottom shelf of the workbench. Most of the tools are in their cases. I have a bunch of nailers underneath my bed.

Strouty - are those Rockler Bench Cookies that I spy?!

Currently in the process of adding more of these to the garage (picked them up at work). They're the overhead cabinets from the Steelcase cubicles:

Your supposed to nailer in the bed.

Stupid I know, couldn't resist. But why are they stored under your bed? Is the garage just that packed?

Dang those are pretty sweet... But for sure have to be way to costly if not a score from work.

They're awesome, and very heavy gauge steel. Keep an eye out on your local Craigslist, there are always companies getting rid of cubicles and these types of cabinets.

I'm afraid to tell you how much I paid for these 2 :D

air tools are in tool box, DA, pad sander and 7" air grinder in the SO cab on the wall

Power tools are in their cases / bags on the shelf under my workbench, shelf under my miter saw, and shelf over my trash can/recycling bin. Stuff I don't use often like my concrete cut off saw and tile saw are in my attic.

Here's mine: Old metal storage cabinet I re-purposed and recently repainted "ala Olsen" w/ re-combined old latex house paint.

Pardon the paints, chemicals & '46 CHevy spare parts on the bottom shelf all in w/ the power tools; it's temporary as I'm currently reworking the garage.

Larger power tools, i.e. tile saw, Roto-hammer & Sawzall in metal cases are up above the (currently) red cabinets to the left in these photos. They are secured up there w/ bungees. Hey, it's California & earthquakes, you know?!

Sorry for the re-post. Trying to figure out how to make my photos show full size instead of as thumbnails.

EDIT: Nope, apparently THAT didn't work. It's not just size....thinking.

They'll always show as thumbnails if you use the embedded photocapture. Upload you photo's to Picasa or Photobucket, then paste them here and wala - full size.

Well, at least I figured out how to post full size pictures!

Here's the re-purposed metal cabinet I mentioned before.

Closed.
Painted with my left over latex house paints. The paint is too flat and shows finger prints every time you touch it. I'll end up using it as primer by buying semi gloss in the same color to re-coat it - DOH!

GarageReset004.jpg

Open.
Currently has my power tools, some remaining paints & chemicals as well as some of the spare parts for my '46 Chevy truck. Those and the chemicals will be stored elsewhere once I finish with the reset of my garage.
