Where/how to replace a vintage Mac toolbox drawer?

Hey fellas,

Awhile ago I picked up an old Mac Tools toolbox upper for a song. Older model with the friction slides. I really like it. But the real reason I picked it was for the Craftsman roller bottom it came with. Well, long story short, I wanted to find a roller bottom for the Mac box and one came up recently that I was able to pick up for only $75 including a fair number of decent tools. Howeverrrr...it's missing the top drawer. The guy's dad had it and he's long since passed away, so the drawer is gone with the wind.

I know I don't *need* the top drawer, but I'd sure like to have one regardless!

Here's the box that I picked up (attached). Matches my top box perfectly, even down to the wear, basically ;)

Any thoughts, pointers, or suggestions would be appreciated!

MayerMR, your options include looking for it on both e-bay and, less likely, CL.
Do not forget that MATCO had identical boxes at this period - you can get one of those and swap the handles as well.
... For some reason this box looks very familiar - either e-bay or MA/NH on CL...

I see toolbox draws pop up on ebay sometimes. Could be a tough one to find

Hey thanks Shelby!

After I posted this I discovered the Matco connection as well. Still thinking I may have a rough time finding just a single drawer though. But I'll keep my eyes peeled.

I purchased this bug off a fella down here in Dallas, so I'm thinking it may be a coincidence.

Ha, that makes sense. I forgot I looked through Dallas CL on Friday: one of my close friends just moved there and It was his first free weekend. Forgot about it...

Ha, well then maybe it's not a coincidence!

Tell your buddy he's also got a top and bottom Snap-On tool chest as well. They are in need of some refurbishment, but not in bad shape, otherwise. Full of tools as well.

Thank you for heads up. I will tell him. Do you have a link? I looked up Irving (that's where your box was listed) - no Snap On...

*head slap* I'm such a dummy. Didn't even think to post the link.

He was wanting $300 for everything, but I took only the Mac box and some tools. The Snap-On boxes are filled with the better goodies; wrenches, sockets, n what not.

He's moving soon so I bet if your buddy showed up with $200 he could take them home with him.

Thank you, Mayer MR. I will forward this to my friend. That could be good! The guy just got a new garage with extra space and started thinking about boxes!
