Your situation is why I like to put off finishing the ceiling and permanent lighting until you have used the shop a while.

A lot depends on the kind of work you do and where you do it.

You can just brute force it and have the whole place bright enough for brain surgery.
Or you can buy some of the hated el cheapo “shop lights” and move them around or add to them until you are happy.

Then do the final install.

You should really consider putting a light color (grey/tan) epoxy down on the floor. It'll really help reflect some light around. You've got a pretty dark gargage. This will brighten whatever lights you put up. I know it really helped in mine.

After i get the ceiling sheet rocked in and the non tile walls and ceiling painted white i will either epoxy, VCT or racedeck. Have not decided yet.
