I need to replace one roof shingle and the blue and orange stores want me to buy a big pack of 21... any idea where I can purchase a single shingle? I'm in the Los Angeles area, if it matters.

Garage content: It's my garage roof.

Buy a bundle, then you will have spares for later.

That's about the extent of it unless. . . .. they have a bundle that is damaged and you can get a discount on it.

on second thought, did you search on CL ? I've seen people try to sell or pawn off partial bundles before.

I did glance at CL... no luck.

The roof is fairly new and I don't have room to keep spares.

I know some of the Home Depots here sell them by the piece. I thought that was odd but it was nice to be able to do that when I had minor dame to the roof. Never saw that in L.A. When I lived there.

Personally I would just buy a bundle, but then again if it was my roof I wouldn't need to as I would have a few left over from roofing it.

Find out who did the roofing and see if they have any spares or call around to roofers in your area and see if you can get the one you need.

Wait until your neighbor is out of town...

Around here, you would just look for an empty house with the same shingle.

Actually, around here you wouldn't even worry about it.

My neighbor was keeping a spare bundle of shingles to repair his roof. He didn't even realize that they were dimensional, and his roof was 3 tab.

Around here, Meanard's is the only store that will sell partial bundles, partial sheets of drywall, random wood offcuts, containers of random drywall screws, etc. Very handy at times and very cheap. At bLowes and Home Despot, you're stuck buying the whole thing no matter what.

I had the same issue and went to the orange store and walked out back where I found bundles that were broken apart. Talk to one of the fork lift guys and usually they will let you have one of the shingles because they will just be discarded.

Find a site where new homes are being built and roofed and ask the guys for one..... They throw them on the ground for the dumpster and have left overs all the time
