I've only been able to find two places that sell Proto, Grainger and drillspot.com. There has to be more distributors right?

I got 2899 results for "industrial supply Los Angeles, CA." Can you narrow your area down to a province like San Fernando valley or Irvine or something?

FWIW another place I've bought Proto at would be Amazon. Prices aren't too bad sometimes. I'm aware that it's probably drop shipped from Grainger, but in case anyone has issues buying there without an account, Amazon isn't a bad option. I'm sure you pay for part of that convenience though.

I'm thinking it's a good idea to first start with your local industrial supplier as long as their prices are reasonable and they treat you well. Just sayin'...

That was what I was getting at by prefacing my suggestion with the whole "in case you had issues by not having an account" stuff. I wasn't aware of a local place other than Grainger that I could have picked up Proto stuff at, and I'd heard of issues buying there without an account. :(

I agree though, completely at that, with looking locally first. If I had a local place I could walk in and buy them at, I'd have been all over that when I got my Proto ratchets. I hate having to order things via catalog/online/etc. when I could obtain them at a brick and mortar. Even if I had to drive an hour across town it would still be worth it, at least to me. Maybe I'm weird? :spit:

Either way though, Proto is definitely worth the trouble to track it down. I don't regret any of my purchases.

Also ask around maybe you can find an account. I was speaking to someone at my job, and they told me we get a discount because of where I work even for just an employee purchase. It made a big difference for me when I bought stuff, at least 1/3 off what I got, he told me it depends what you buy.
