I am trying to repower an ingersoll-rand gas air compressor. the original engine had a 1 1/8 shaft with the pulley being the style with a hub and the actual pulley slides on and locks down. not sure what that style is called. i cant use the original pulley because a chunk is broken out and the shaft is the wrong size. i am having a hard time locating a suitable replacement. i need a 6 inch diameter, double groove, for a 1 inch shaft. the belt grooves appear to be for half inch wide belt. the original belt is the style that is two belts molded into one. i am hoping to use the original belt but might have to get longer single belts to make this work. can anybody help me to find a suitable pulley? i have searched but not sure what to search for... thanks!!

Do you have a local industrial bearing supply store? They typically also cover pulleys and industrial belts as well as chains and sprockets and whatnot.

Grainger or like stated above a bearing supply house should have or could get you what you need. The original pulley sounds like it’s a taper lock.

Its called a QD bushing. Or if you want just a key/setscrew, its called finished bore. Taper lock as far as im concerned lock with setscrews, with half holes on the bushing and half on pulley. I dont like this style.

Youll need the belt size A B C 3V 5V etc.
Pulley Diameter, single or double groove pulley.
Shaft Diameter. Key size is pretty standard but i like to confirm before ordering.

Any industrial bearing supply should have them.
In the usa, applied industrial, motion industries etc.
Canada, hy power, canada bearing, applied, motion canada etc.

Edit: after reading whole post, the double belt is called a "banded belt" and a 1/2 inch belt across the top (widest part) is an A belt. Or SPA if metric (13mm)

We've always called them by the brand names , Browning for the QD and Dodge for the taper-loc. Dislike is a bit mild for the Dodge ones. The last QD I bought was a Makasa .

I always get whatever I need from Amazon. Sometimes a size close to what you need can be a fraction of or several times the price of the exact size you need. When putting together my Quincy compressor, I already had the right sized taper lock bushing for the motor and I needed a 6.5"PD drive pulley, it was pricey but the 6.25" for some reason was only $10 so it's worth looking around. Finished bore pulleys, sprocket, etc. always tend to be more expensive as they move slower off the shelf and they are by design a more limited application than the same thing with an interchangeable bushing system.
