After 20+ years of safe use , My Fluke got rained on. I can see some condensation on the LCD and it no longer powers up.

Is it worth getting repaired and where can I get it repaired?

Try a big bag of rice. Seriously. I just sent my Galaxy Buds through the washing machine by accident. Dead. Two days in a bag of rice and a recharge and they are good as new. It might be worth a shot as the rice really absorbs the moisture well. Not much to lose by trying.

There are many places that calibrate and repair test equipment. 6 or 12 month calibration and testing is mandatory in my industry.

They usually have “instruments” or “test equipment” in their name. Google “Test equipment repair” and you should find one in your area. Around here repair and calibration is flat rate of about $250 regardless of what the problem is.

I have had a Fluke 179 for many years as well. One day, it started flashing “err F179” everytime it was powered on, rendering it useless. I opened an RMA claim on Fluke’s website and sent it off. They replaced the circuit board free of charge, and it works like new now. They had it back to me in a few weeks if I remember correctly. It might be worth a shot.

Definitely try desiccation. Preferably with a chemical desiccant in a glass or metal container. Rice can work, but the chemicsl dessicants are stronger. Give it longer than you think — sometimes up to a month or six weeks. Don’t power it up too soon — let it get good and dry.

I’ve recovered some stuff that had no business coming back to life, including a set of EarPods that were deader than a doornail for weeks and weeks and I thought for sure finished.

In general no shop will repair a multimeter since they run the risk that a botched repair could compromise safety. That and the price of a 179 vs the cost to repair isn't going to favor repairing. That said, the Fluke 179 is not hard to take apart. You could probably do it yourself. 4 screws around the housing, then a few more on the inside. Clean things with some isopropal and you are probably fine.

Here is an EEVblog thread with teardown pictures.

You might not like my answer but throw it in the dumpster and buy a new one. I deal with this **** on a regular basis and it will be $150 minimum plus shipping to get it fixed. Service is a big part of most companies bottom dollar now days and it is not cheap. As Citation mentioned there is also some liability in fixing such a device. That being said I would certainly reach out to Fluke as a first step, they make great products until you do something dumb like you did. :)

This is all honestly and sadly true...
... but if you do decide to throw it in the trash I would happily pay to ship it to my trash can... I've repaired more than a few meters and I really doubt yours would be hard to fix even if no company would be willing to do it.
