Where to get VCT?

I went to Home Depot and Lowes, neither carries them. I read on here that some other members got theirs from Home Depot. Did a search on homedepot.com and no such thing exists.

I purchased my Armstrong VCT at Home Depot in July of this year.

How did you prep the floor before laying down the adhesive? What adhesive did you use? I'll try some other Home Depot. Very nice garage!!! I had a 94 C-package, and now an 06 MX-5 as well.

Checked it out and they don't have it listed online. Then again, a lot of the stuff in the stores isn't listed online. In case you don't know, VCT is Vinyl Composition Tile (replaces VAT - Vinyl Asbestos Tile) - your basic vinyl tile. Home Depot and Lowes carry it, but a flooring place would have a much wider selection of options for you.

So, it the general consensus that your local big box home improvement store is the best (read: cheapest) place to purchase VCT? I always see HD and Lowe's mentioned, but no one ever mentions checking out floor covering stores.

Seems 60 cents per foot is about the cheapest price to expect. Did anyone go lower?

Sometimes its just the convenience as I've found that the Big Box Stores carry more product. The strictly flooring places I visited would have had to order in the tiles I wanted.

I did check with flooring places and they told that they could not compete with the price at HD or Lowes. Home Depot has them for .68 per foot most of the time but they do put them on sale. In May I bought mine on sale for .58 each and then I opened an account with them just to get 10% off of that price.

I've only seen light neutral colors stocked at local Lowes and Home Depot stores. They had to special order all other colors. At that point it becomes a pricing game.

Here's another route to explore. Sometimes flooring distributors get stuck holding a bunch of material that was ordered wrong or had the order cancelled by the customer, etc. If one of the local distributors does, see what offer they'll take to get it out of the warehouse. A lot of distributors would rather sell it at a small or zero margin than hold on to it forever.

I had to special order 2 of the colors that I needed and there was no extra charge by Home Depot. I got the sale price and paid nothing for shipping. The flooring places I went to all wanted to jack the price up for special order and their order time was going to be longer than Home Depot.

Use a 10% off coupon for Lowes or Homedepot. I use them all the time. If you dont have any coupons, buy a couple from ebay for a couple bucks, you can save a ton on large purchases. Better yet if they are on sale. Then pay for it on your Discover card and get another 1% back. Sometimes Discover will give 5% cash back from Home Improvement stores. Couple all these techniques together and get a DEAL!
