My google-fu isn’t working. I’m trying to source some plastic thumb screws like THIS for my bucket dolly. Been searching for awhile without much success. Anyone know where I can purchase?

Any idea what thread size/pitch that is?

McMaster's plastic thumb screws only go up to 3/8-16" in barleycorns; no metric or larger sizes.

Or, just get metal screws.

Or, make some from plastic threaded rod.

Or, get a die and some plastic rod and make your own.

How big? That pic makes them look quite large and my first thought was plumbing fittings, but maybe they are smaller than they appear.

3/8-16 x 3/4 is the biggest I'm turning up on ebay

Here are some 1/2-13, but you gotta buy a bunch. Maybe find out who bought some last?

These guys carry the same brand, but sell singles, they may have the 1/2"

It’s pretty big.

Yeah, but HOW big?

These things would make a nice little bit of lathe practice for someone (many people start learning by machining plastic), but they're gonna need an actual measurement of diameter and thread pitch.

I'd contact the seller or supplier to see if parts are available. Maybe you've already done that.

But realistically, for $40, it's probably cheapest and fastest by far to just buy a new dolly. I'd add a leash to these thumb screws; it's kind of a stupid design, honestly. Fine pitch plastic threads through a thin layer of plastic are completely doomed if they're ever used very much.
