Where to put new water line?

So finally decided to have a water line run into the garage. Two reasons, easier to wash the car in the garage and it will be a new access point for that side of the house in lieu of dragging a hose from the front of the house. Here's the area I'm thinking it should go. Are there standards as to the height of the spout? I'm thinking to the left of the tire hose reel. Thoughts, suggestions before I bring in the plumber...

Wherever you want to put it man. Ever thought of just putting in a utility sink and using a hose adapter on the faucet? This would allow you to have hot water at the hose as well as having a sink which is pretty awesome.

Do what you want but personally I would think twice before washing a car in there and spraying water all over that TV and the unprotected wiring. I guess your corner sump is the floor drain.

I hope that double gang outlet has GFI protection on the circuit?
I also have to give you **** on that sketchy wirenut splice on that unprotected romex extension cord you've got plugged in. I hope you get somebody that has seen a NEC to fix all that before you bring in a plumber...
I agree with the idea of a utility sink with a hose adapter on the faucet, unless you can't spare the room there. I'd put it about 18" off the floor so you can get a 5 gal bucket under it. I'd keep it at least 3 feet from any electrical.
I'd hate to see a hose end come apart and spray onto that TV... Murphy's law is waiting.

PS... what the hell is that thing that looks like an extension cord going through the foamed hole in the wall? And are there more wire nut splices hanging loose right behind that door track?
"I see dead people" :p

Is that small door for a crawl space. If so, I'd drop a line from the nearest water source and run a line along a floor joist. Drop it at the wall to whatever height you want, punch a hole for a spigot and Bob's your uncle. PEX is quick and easy.

I knew you guys were going to say something about that wire splice. LOL. It's something the previous homeowner did that I have to still fix. It's powering the outdoor driveway lights.

All those wire nuts are for the driveway lights. And that wire covered in foam.... I have yet to figure out where that goes.

I put a washing machine hose box in my one car, so I could have hot/cold water. I like the car wash water warm/ rinse cold. I did not have the depth needed for a sink, which is best. jmo

First thought that came to my mind is put it above the sump so when it drips it will go into the sump.

Do you need to worry about water freezing ? Where is existing water line located ? I would consider the easiest way to get to garage if a frostfree silcock is required..

^ ^ This. Put all your pipes in heated space and just use a double frostfree silcock that has both hot and cold.

Might even be a sanitation line to tie into. Could even put the trap in the crawlspace to prevent freezing. If on a septic watch what you send down the drain.

I wish my garage was attached for a sink.

+1 on the sink, if you can swing it. I have had utility sinks in the last two garages I have had. Would not want to be without one.

Maybe get these or ones like them at your local plumbing supply house.

^ ^ ^ ^ Winner . . . winner . . . chicken dinner !! :rocker: . .

Put portable sink on wheels under that with 5 gal bucket to catch water so you don't have to plumb in a drain. Dump 5 gal bucket out on driveway when done.
