where to run wire

starting to rewire my older pole building, my question is can i run my wires on the top edge of the 2x6s that hold the outside metal on and can i run it on the back side of the posts. ive seen some posts about having to keep the wire so far away from the outside metal

Generally you need a 1 1/4 space between the cable and the wall surface. Most drywall screws or nails are short enough to miss the cable when installed this way

1 1/2" from roof deck, and for solar PV feed that is 8" from roof deck.
