Any steel supplier. Where are you located?
What he is trying to say is: there is nothing special about them. Almost always they are simpy two pieces of 2" a36 with a notch cut in them. If it were me I would call your local steel supplier and ask them if they have any drops. They will most likely just charge you by the pound and you can cut it to whatever shape you desire at home. if you did all the work yourself I bet you'll probably be into it for about 100

I have the Swag plates and love them. The cast plates are **** avoid them. You could buy a couple of pieces of plate and fabricate them, but it just wasn't worth the hassle to me, and it didn't look like I would save much money anyway.

I emailed swag a week or two ago with no reply. They also only list plates that are up to 1.5" thick.
This is anecdotal, I have the 12x12x1.5" Swag plates. I have put 60 tons on them (calculated) and they didn't budge. The rest of my press however said, "that's enough" so I haven't pushed it any harder. I also have about the same gap as you do.

Also, I don't know from the picture exactly how big your cylinder is but mine is a 4" bore and I have a 10,000 psi pump to produce 60 ton. Not many presses actually go that high since many pumps only run 3000 psi even if the sticker says they do.

Never use anything cast for press tools. They can shatter and the pieces can travel fast enough to injure or kill. Our big press at work had a cage around it with a door in it in case anything broke or exploded. I've seen ball bearings disintegrate.

Yup, happened to a buddy of mine a few months ago. He got lucky. He said he knew better but now he has some very nice plates. Forgot where he got them though...

The SWAG ones would be fine. You'll bend the bed before you hurt those plates.
Once upon a time, before the internet, everyone just used what ever scrap steel they had lying around.
I've seen in my late Uncle's shop he had what appeared to be a 50 ton press with thick angle iron he used as plates. They looked like 1/4-1/2" thick angle irons he got from the scrap pile at Pearl Harbor shipyard whee he and my dad used to work.

My dad has that exact press I think I found it on cl. It’s a bad dude! He has an assortment of plates 3/4-1 1/2” depends on what we are pushing on and the shape of it
