where to source single 12 pt impact sockets

I need a couple 12 pt impact sockets i can beat on and replace easily. However i'm having trouble finding single loose sockets from any manufacturer beside SO. I only need a couple sizes for various 12pt bolts i deal with at work, but not enough to justify a whole ~$100 set.

I've tried ebay, carlyle, gearwrench, tekton and sunex to no avail. They only seem to sell sets.

What sizes are you looking for? Have you tried grey pneumatic?

I know grey's has them but they don't sell single sockets, do they? I need a 1/2, and 5/8. Both shallow 1/2" dr 12 pts. I actually have a coworker who bought a pretty pricey grey's set to replace some of his worn out sockets... I'd like to avoid doing the same by finding someplace that sources them outright.

EDIT:
Just look on grey's site after i wrote that... They do offer part #s for single sockets. And a quick google search brought up plenty of results for them from reputable tool distributors.

So, open mouth -> insert foot on my part. Thanks! I don't know why i didn't think about looking at Grey's site.

Sunex does, I just bought a 12pt 12mm single a week or two ago. I’ve purchased singles in grey pneumatic as well, although not 12pt, but I’d bet they have them.

Zoro or Amazon are popular online sources. If you want warranty, you need to buy Grey Pnuematic from an authorized dealer. I think Tooltopia may be the only online dealer who is authorized. Sunex doesn't cover wear under warranty but will warranty breakage. Any of the tool truck brands will cover wear and breakage under warranty.

eBay is probably the best choice for pro names. I THINK HF sells 12 point impacts now. I know grey pneumatic does for the duo sockets.

Yea, HF has 12 point deep sae sockets. $25 for the whole set before 20% coupon. So like $20 before tax with the coupon. Their sockets are widely used on the forum and have a great reputation, especially the impacts. This might be your best bet, and they do warranty impact sockets. Buying two individual sockets online will probably cost you almost as much as their entire set. Ask around and you'll read a lot of positive reviews on their impact stuff. This is absolutely the most for your money.

Make sure to get the pro sockets. They're made from cr-mo not Cr-v like the regular impact sockets.

You are absolutely correct, sir. I need to stop beating the **** out of my 12 pt 3/8 drive sockets on these bolts. I still couldn't find any of sunex on Amazon(At least no single sockets).

Thanks to all the help on this forum though, i was able to find multiple brands that fit my application. It seems Grey's, Proto, and carlyle all make the sockets i need. I did know HF made 12 pt. impacts, however only in deepwells. I prefer shallows for my application. But they are great sockets despite the CR-V alloy. I have used mine daily for about a year and a half now and they've been holding up great.

Grey's can be had on amazon for about $15 bucks for both sockets including shipping. However i think i'll be going with Carlyle as they're a bit cheaper, and can be warrantied locally. They also use a CR-Mo alloy.
Interestingly enough, i couldn't locate the Carlyle sockets at first because they're not listed as Carlyle on Napa's website, nor do they show up on Carlyle's website.

Thanks again for all the help!

On the rare occasion that I need a single socket I usually buy from McMaster-Carr. You won't know ahead of time what the brand is but it'll be high quality. Sometimes it's Snap-On.

Tekton's sets are so cheap I'd just go that route...I imagine if you gave them a call they might sell you a dozen individual sockets though, they're pretty good.

I bought a 12 point 30mm impact socket from my Snap On driver, otherwise I went to my friend's NAPA store first but they didn't have any in stock.

The Tektons are CrV as well, so I passed on them. The better HF impact sockets are Cr Moly. While CrV probably would last fine for home use, the fact that every reputable brand I could find info on was CrMoly, concinced me that it must be the better choice. I am no metalurgist and that is all I have to go on.

The napaonline website is a little tricky with keyword search. You can also download the Carlyle Tools app if you have a smart phone. It's more comprehensive with part numbers and tool listings.
