I know this has probably been beaten to death....but why do members not put their location. Even a vague description would be very helpful when we consider prices,weather,attitudes etc.

Only speculation since everyone has their own reasoning, but I assume a lot of people that have nice things (like a lot of members here) don't like to give out easy to find details where people can track them down and mess with their very nice things...
I would at the very least hope they could put a state or region in their location as it helps a lot with trying to answer questions. Answering/mentioning something with comment/concern for snow would be pointless to someone in the south, right?

I have two homes, good luck figuring out where my "good stuff" is!
But some people are just paranoid, might have better stuff than the rest of us and dont want unwanted visitors?

You mean like how some people block out their lic plate as well when they post a pic of their car?
I think I have a pretty good reason for not wanting people to know where I live....but, LA is a pretty big area....your best chance of finding me is to do something wrong....next best chance is Home Depot....

Where am I from? Born and raised in Eden Prairie, MN. Where do I live now, not in St. Louis but close enough that I just say there otherwise it just leads to explaining the exact location over and over to people who aren't familiar with the area.

Seriously. Often a location can help on a forum and seriously hiding your location may hinder a reply to a post.
Rules and regulations vary from state to sate and given this is a global forum country to country so often a location will help you get a better answer faster.
You must be jealous of our high school football team!

I don't understand why it isn't required when you join......it's beyond me. How about everyone just refuse to answer if a location isn't given. So tired of asking.....

We can still track you via an IP address so if you play up we get a good idea who is not welcome.
a while back there was a high profile (on the HAMB anyway) car theft. there was speculation that it could have been related to his build thread which showed his car, shop, tools etc. his location was listed also. after that alot people removed their locations, me included. one time i used google maps to pin point the bay in my garage where the car in my avatar was located and listed the coordinates as my location. some one from across the country contacted me about the area i live in. i never thought any one would look it up! not every one on these web sites is an upstanding person.
