Seems like ages since the last ebay coupon 10-15%, pre-I think. Have their sales been that good they havent needed a coupon this quarter. Shocked there wasnt one for v-day at a minimum.
Some ebay users like myself got a $5 off 5+ a couple of days ago. So there's that.
I don't remember one for V-day last year. I posted in the eBay thread they did have one for Presidents day last year, but squat this year. All in my saved list, but I spent a bit of time browsing with the anticipation of that.
the next coupon in my email last year was for 20% around the end of March, so a select sellers one.
I have been building my list since december, waiting...
Me too. I never get the random selected coupons either.

Same, maybe I use eBay too much?![]()
I get that feeling that it is a targeted coupon to get someone to start purchasing again as I never get them myself.
I’m guessing you are correct. Just got the $5 off a purchase. I used to spend some pretty major dollars a few years back. But then the exchange and shipping were reasonable. Amazon and others must really be pruning out their customers.

I have been using Amazon.ca to a limited degree with the free ship. eBay has gotten into the centralized shipping which includes additional custom charges which are automatically added. To tell you the truth many articles prior to the new shipping and customs fees that I used to purchase prior through USPS shipping would arrive at my door with no custom charges levied. The private carriers UPS, FedEx are even more brutal for customs charges. But the exchange is what is killing me. Whenever possible I try to buy locally. All of the on line sales are killing our brick and mortar stores. The free shipping out of China is especially hard to swallow as that it was setup to help the poorer emerging countries get a toe hold to becoming more wealthy. Now China is going to eat your lunch, which won’t improve North America or anyone’s for that matter. But I digress.

Crossing the border with the stuff does ****, I imagine before you were getting lucky with guys sending it.
There's gotta be an OK amount of people on eBay located in Canada tho, right? So your shipping would be in country and currency would be the same. The thing is with eBay is you're buying from individuals and their businesses - not the company, so everyone's shipping will likely be different. Unlike Amazon there's no eBay warehouses and eBay as the seller. Agreed on the China arrangement, I'm not sure about there but it costs them less to send me stuff than it does me to mail another American...thanks USPS
It is nice, however, when I don't need something urgently or want to try cheap tooling for a few bones and a 2 month wait.
I just received an email for 10% eBay bucks. Seems they are doing the eBay bucks more so now.

Received the same thing, but for some reason it’s not working when I go to checkout in the app. I’m well over the 25$ minimum. Not sure if it’s a glitch or what.
I suppose it is possible that they have decided that too many people are waiting for the 15% off coupons.
they certainly should have the data to decide something like that.
this would explain the targeted coupons (5$ off) and the ebay bucks offers (get 8% for purchases above 25$) that some get and some don't.. . . . . .
I figured this, too. OTOH their gross sales on the 15% days have to be record setting and thus collections from seller fees quite high
Fees only eat about 10%-12% (I sell a lot). At best eBay breaks even. They do it to draw attention to the site for future repeat business without the aid of coupons.
It's not exactly a seasonal thing. Last year they decided they needed to do something to remain competitive in the online retail space. It had to do with earnings growth released on wall street compared to walmart, amazon, etc. eBay was significantly behind their competitors. The blitz of campaigns last year was part of an initiative intended to address that.
Looking at the transcript of their Jan 2019 earnings call, there was one remark that buyer coupons would be throttled back in 2019 (seems like they want to focus on other marketing strategies like SEO to improve conversion rates). They are trying to find the right mix to sustain long term growth. Bottom line, expect either lower caps or percentages this year, or perhaps fewer coupons (or both). And they are definitely segmenting their buyers and trying things to improve conversions while not disrupting other segments of buyers. So some of us may see things while others don't.
That's my $0.02 after scanning the transcript, but there is a bunch of corporate mumbo jumbo and acronyms littered in there that don't mean a lot to me. Someone smarter than me can take a crack and see if they have a better read on it.
Ebay used to be good for the average mom, pop sellers with reasonable ebay fees and equal feedback postings... Now, eBay has driven all the original ebayers with high fees, customer is right no matter if buyers are scammers, then scam buyers have flocked to eBay for easy $$ ripoff because Ebay considers all buyers as 100% right..
Sellers can't even leave negative posting on buyers, but buyers can..WTF??.
sellers are fleeing eBay while big China companies are on ebay who can absorb the scammers $$$ lost.

I agree this is an issue as well. Several years ago when ebay first went to their new seller system, sellers had a probation, not just for new member but also if you hadn't sold anything in awhile. They would hold your money until a certain amount of time after the buy received item. I have been an ebay member since 2001 and that was not the first time I was selling. They held my money and when I called I asked them, do you know what we were paying with in 2001 when I joined on ebay? No. Money orders....
I agree with this. The problem they created with all of us reading this thread is we grew to expect the coupons, so we have a hard time buying something without a coupon!
So for you, I'm thinking they will give you a 10% with a $20 cap. Just enough to motivate you, but not enough for you to brag on GJ about the screaming deal you got on that new air compressor.
And for toolmutt, nothing, he'll buy out of exhaustion.![]()

I agree 100%. I sold on eBay for 12 years and stopped selling on there 3 years ago due to dubious buyers. I had sold almost a thousand items and then in the month of December 2016, I had 4 buyers report my items not as described (3 with paypal and 1 with eBay). I'm a Graphic Designer so the pictures were above par and eBay still sided with them. How can a Ford P/N be a "not as described" accompanied with a visual and the OEM part name?
It was a great way to get rid of my unwanted items during high school and college. It has definitely changed and I'm hearing the same things from other people I know who sold on eBay. Now I just give stuff away to friends, donate items, or throw it in the trash. I would rather do that, then pay shipping for someone to steal my items.
