Where's my thermostat

I'm trying to change my thermostat on my "09" Ford Focus, And I can't find it.i followed the upper rad hose to somthing on the drivers side of the head that I thought was a thermostat housing, surprise nothing in there! Can any one tell me where to look?

Do you have a 4 cylinder with a plastic intake manifold with another radiator hose that runs straight into the motor below the manifold? If you do I am sorry in advance and no you don't need to remove the manifold to change it.

Yes jjthrasher it is that motor with the added challenge of AC!
