BTW, is 9/16" the same as 14mm for these spark plug sockets? 9/16 is 14.29mm but are the plugs the stated size or is it the socket? If the plug, I can understand the socket would a smidge bigger to fit over the plug.

Those S-o sockets above are pretty thick (and expensive!), if you need thin wall, here you go...

Ko-ken Zeal 3300CZ-14, about $20 from Frankstools.com Clip retention though (which I prefer)

KTC B3A-14P has magnetic retention, about $20 too. Frank can get it for you too...

I use both of these types and they are very high quality, might make you toss your GW stuff

Have you encountered an issue with the KOKEN due to its taper profile? Additionally, you indicated that you use both the KTC and KOKEN, do you find an advantage of one make over the other, if so would you mind expanding on your remarks? Thanks and Happy Holidays

Both are excellent quality and I haven't had issues with either. Both are nice and thin and go down SP wells that stymie other sockets. I prefer the clip retention of the Ko-ken, but pick your preference.

Yeah, I mean they're spark plug sockets...

Not a lot to go wrong with them but access is the key, in a lot of euro vehicles thin wall is a necessity. One issue may be frozen plugs where you need a freakin impact, but other than an extreme scenario no need to spend a fortune. The only time I spent a small fortune on a SP socket was for BMW S14/S38 engine, at the time Hazet 880AMGT-3 was the cheapest, about $60 (ouch!)

Like a lot of hand tools, I think KTC and Ko-ken offer one hell of a bang for the buck...

Asian makes use a 6 point
Euro use a 12 point
And USA is 9/16 for fords I have not encountered gym or Chrysler

With these I use snap on 14mm universal 6point on Asian and 9/16 long on ford 3v and standard snap on 12 point 14mm on eurospec

I have purchased a few years back the SnapOn 9/16 for the S14 plugs but thinking of getting the KOKEN 14mm as another option

You'll be wasting your money. S14/S38 requires a very thin wall 11/16" socket. Snap on makes no such size

I second the Koken socket. Just ordered my 16mm from Frankstools and I couldn’t be happier with the speed and turn around of my order.
