Finishing up my woodshop and I have two 30A circuits in the subpanel - one is inside the shop for a larger tablesaw or other future needs and one is on the outside wall for relatives that come with their RV.

The RV outlet should be a 4-wire 18-30R, correct ? (30A/120V) ?

I don't currently have any 30A tools currently so it's not obvious which 30A receptacle to install on the interior ...

A 10-30R "dryer" outlet ? What plug do big tablesaws/compressors/collectors use ?

Thanks.

A 30 rv 120v is 3 wire. As for the other tools, there is nothing wrong with having a wire but these are all 3 also, 2 and ground actually. The best was is to have means to get back to the panel to be able to add a tailor made circuit as needed.
Having said that,,, if it was mine would have a couple 120 outlets and keep all that stuff 120 volt I could. So much less wire, less confusion, can use the circuits for a lot. I got a ton of stuff, do have a radial saw I never use takes up 2 panel spaces and the only other thing I have besides welders not 120 is a heavy pressure washer. Table saw, 120, paint fan, chop saw, all of it uses a common outlet.
Whoops, forgot air comps, again, tailored circuits.

I use NEMA 14-30R and P for all my 240 stuff...
It is locking but also have neutral, as well as most generator output used it.

this says your NEMA 18 is a 3Phase plug... you sure ?

30 amp 120 volt outlets are a bad idea.

Almost any tool that requires more than 20 amps at 120 volts will also operate on 240 volts. Operating at twice the voltages has the advantage of using half the amps this allows you thinner less costly wires, plus the starting surge will be much smaller so the lights in the rest of the house will not dim when the motor starts.

Assuming your tools will have motors over 1.5 and less than 4 horse power you would best be served by 20 amp 240 volt circuits.

no.

An 18-30 is 3-phase 4-wire 4-pole 120/208Y non-grounding

30a RV receptacles are actually TT-30.

But bigger RVs use 14-50r so before installing anything for an RV you should verify which outlet they need.

It may even be a good idea to install the larger 50a outlet then use an adapter for TT-30 if needed.

If you dont currently have an tools that use 30a circuits then just leave it alone.

As said above any tools that would need that much current are typically 240v and thus need a smaller circuit.

And no a 10-30r dryer outlet would be the wrong outlet no matter if the tool is 120v or 240v as a 10-30r is 120/240v non grounding.

Big table saws usually use a 6-20r which is 20a 240v.

Like he said above, smaller RVs use 30A/120v (and it's a TT receptacle), larger RVs use 50A/240v.

A lot of 240v equipment usually only comes with a bare wire end and you buy / install the plug you want (or hard wire). Until you get a machine I would just leave the wire in the box and cap it off. No reason to buy a receptacle only to have to change it out later.

For RV use I wired a 14-50R with a 240V run fused at 30A. I don't need the full 50A with the trailer parked next to the shop. With an typical adapter from Walmart or TSC or any RV shop I can power either a 30A 120V or 50A-240 RV setup.
