wow the irwins look exactly like harbor freights, probably made in china too.

got the irwin before i even heard of HF but now that you mention it they do. I've never had a problem with bending or broken tips though, not that it means much. Maybe the new ones are **** or maybe they just ripped off the design. The Irwins are most certainly not made in the US though, pretty sure China.

I own a similar Craftsman 12 piece convertible (internal to external) snap ring plier set to this one:
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00950464000P?keyword=craftsman+snap+ring+plier+set&viewType=gal&mv=tr. This set includes like mine straight, 45*, and 90* offset pliers.

I used them last year when replacing the 2 front hubs on a 2003 Subaru Forester. They are of good quality and value. You will not be disappointed with them.

gnx547,

I would think that the above linked Craftsman 12 piece convertible snap ring plier set is made in the United States. It looks identical to mine purchased a couple years ago.

Knipex or Wurth (which are re-branded Knipex, I'm told) are sturdy and do not break or slip. Just get the appropriate one for your application. Most European made tools comply with DIN or ISO standards as do the circlips. If your application is non metric then get non metric pliers big enough to handle the job
