I've been researching air compressors for home use and have read many posts here, and will be using the compressor for various air tools , but will want capability to sand blast small jobs if need be. Will a 3HP 60 gallon, 11cfm compressor@ 90psi suffice for any blasting I might do ? I've got it narrowed down to a NorthStar 60 gallon 3 cylinder 5 hp unit $900, or a great deal on the new Kobalt 2 stage 3hp Lowes is selling @ $450. There's no review on it yet. The question also is would that small 2 stage of 175 lb. be to any benefit over a single stage 135lb.? wont I only need 90 psi for anything I'll do? would the recovery time be long or short? Also 1725 rpm pump would be great if I can find one within a low price range.

Thanks, Howie

It seems your at the verge of requiring a 2 stage 13-15 CFM machine with your description. Its the blasting that requires the most air. You can get by with the smaller machines for everything else. I like the slower spinning machines as they often are quieter and should last longer too.
Have you set a firm budget yet?
