These would be better comparisons to the Makita, (bottom of page), -

I'd still go w/the Makita though. It's oil cooled, runs at less rpms and quite compared to the oil-less units.

Your last argument is completely invalid. The JC10 is very quiet as compressors go, oiled or oiless. It is significantly quieter than the Makita for sure.

The extra CFM from the Makita can't be ignored if you need it, however. Also, the tank size is nearly double so you are talking less cycling time, and I believe the Makita has 100% duty cycle. You mention small pneumatic tools, but could you list some realistic examples?

All things considered, if it is just for nailers and the compressor would have to sit anywhere within 25 ft of me, my money would go to the Rolair unit. I hate loud noise.

If I could keep the compressor further away or somehow make it more quiet, I would definitely take the Makita.

LOL a quiet oiless compressor that doesn't have a soundproof room built around it....

Get the Makita oil vs oil-less it doesn't matter the brand one that uses oil will always be quieter and last longer.

Just bought the mac2400 last Sunday. The good people at my local store spent an hour with me showing me the different compressors. Ended up coming home with the makita. I overlooked the small tank because of the fast recharge and quieter operation compared to the other similar compressors. Haven't had much time to play around with it but so far it's been good.

Look, just because the compressor takes oil doesn't mean it's more quiet than another. My little 2 gallon craftsman takes oil, is loud as hell, and walks all over the place. I hate that thing! But it's portable!!

Well, it does in this case. It's only 79dB's.

Hey, sorry for luck with your CM...Sounds like a screamer.

That wasn't meant to sound aholish...sorry didn't proof read.

My cm works fine, I think it was $79 bucks on Black Friday ... Wouldn't mind seeing or hearing a vid rather of how quiet it is. d

Don't ask.
Depends on your needs/wants.
I have that Rolair (So I guess that gives away my choice). Very quiet, small enough to be portable (carry through the house, up stairs etc. with one hand). Plenty of air for one guy using a nailer. Enough air for topping off tires.

If I was only using it for finish nailer, I would have bought the little Senco. Smaller and lighter (more portable) than the JC10 but a little noisier.
