I'm trying to buy an air compressor in order to power a sand blast cabinet. I'm thinking 60 gallon and like 12 cfm at 90psi. I have found used Ingersol Rands and a Campbell Hausfeld for around $350 as well as a lot of other brands like a Champion, Sandborn, Kobalt, Industrial Air for the same price range. What are some of the best brands that are going to last me a long time?

If you have found a Champion in good shape that will fit your needs, it is a safe bet. Most every other company has hit or miss models, especially in the cheaper range, but I haven't seen a **** Champion yet.

You might find 12cfm to be marginal for a blast cabinet, I would look for 15cfm or better if you are going to be blasting any length of time.

Above are some references you should read and understand. Not stated in the above references is the fact that you can only do so many square inches of surface per minute per horsepower. So you can run a very small nozzle on a small air compressor but you will be hours doing a few square inches. Horsepower in sandblasting is just like horsepower in a car, the more you have the quicker you can go.
