I should buy a battery chainsaw. Which battery chainsaw is good? I wonder about your opinions. Thanks for your help.

I have the Milwaukee M18 Chainsaw and really like it. But I have Milwaukee M18 tools, so I have that battery platform. If you don't have one particular battery platform, I would check out all the ones out there, and find one that you like. For me, that battery chainsaw is perfect.

As usual with cordless tools, the best way to buy batteries is to buy a tool. I'm very deep into the makita cordless and for $350 I ordered their 14"? saw that came with 4 5ah batteries and a dual charger. That's a great price for the batteries alone. The saw is great for less than serious all day saw work and has met my expectations.
I don't see buying one that's not compatible with whatever meager or huge collection (brand) that you already have and personally wouldn't consider one that wasn't in the cordless tool business for future battery needs. That includes the big saw names, their primary business is gas saws.

On the cheaper end, I have a bunch of Green Works equipment including their cordless chainsaw. I have no complaints. My step-brother has a rather expensive Milwaukee version. He has no complaints either. Neither are made for forestry work but do just fine for clearing up some fallen limbs after a storm.

I agree with Badger about staying with battery platforms (if you have anything cordless already).

I can tell you it outperforms my Husqvarna gas and it outperforms the Stihl gas from the video above.

It also bested the chainsaw mfg's electric saws in part 2 video with the only one being close was Echo.

But...Echo doesn't have the other tools lineup of DeWalt...

If I were to get a battery chainsaw, I'd go with the Milwaukee one simply because I have a bunch of M18 batteries already. That said, I think battery saws have their place, but I'm not sure they are ready just yet unless your use is limited. I almost bought the M18 saw before purchasing a Stihl gas chainsaw. I'm glad I went gas, and I've since purchased 2 more gas chainsaws and a Milwaukee M12 Hatchet pruning chainsaw. My use is higher than most homeowners as I'm removing dead Ash trees from my property, for simple storm cleanup battery is fantastic especially if you have multiple batteries.

I've had my two-battery little Makita for over three years with no problems. The best time to get these is late fall and around Christmas for the best deals. Mine came with four 5-amp batteries and it was around $100 bucks cheaper than normal, plus it had two extra batteries.

I love the cordless, it's so usefull and makes very little noise and no smell, great for late-night buck-thorn bonfires.

I use mine a lot so I loaded up on extra chains, one of these days I'll start sharpening them but I'd price those out as well, at least have an extra so you don't get stuck with a dull chain. Mine are under $15 but it's easier to order them, the off-brands don't seem to fit as well.

I have the two battery makita 16 inch. I like it and I would love to recommend it, but I found when I really push it hard, it's not tough enough. It's good enough for occasional use or light duty use, but when I tried to use it all day with multiple batteries, it gave me trouble - I couldn't keep the chain on it. It would get hot and stall out.

I have used Makita XCU04PT 36v battery and it turned out to be a great experience.
