I really need to make a collection of pickle fork for my box. What brand is one of the best out there? I have used a KD tool pickle fork and it works awesome! I've used a few others and they just seem to split wider.

I use the lisle 3 piece and the two offerings from HF. I have beaten the **** out of them. The lisle set is the strongest I have used but it will not stay tight.

I have several including an ancient Plum, but my favorite is a Ken Tool I bought when I was in high school.

I use the tie rod separator that is like a two jaw puller it doesn't damage the boots
and is a lot easier to use.I have several old forks but I have one that works with a
air hammer that works well.

I've never used a pickle fork since getting a real BJ/TRE separator. I really can't see the need for a collection. What am I missing?

Snap-on makes the best. I have a few and all my air hammer forks are snapon. I have the otc set thats held up well. Pickle forks are nice for quick removal of tierods and balljoints when you know your not reusing said joint. If im reusing tierods and balljoints i do everything in my power to avoid using a pickle fork.

I have 2 air hammer ones in different sizes. But they are unused as a good front end puller set is much better lol

They are great for separating lots of things, not just tie rods. We use them all the time for removing pulleys, pulley hubs, flange bearings, etc in power equipment.

I have 2 - an ancient Proto from back when my ol man turned wrenches and a HF larger width from about 15 years ago - held up very well but I don't think todays HF is the same quality. Believe it or not, I think the steel was better then and the finnish def was.
