Which brand tray?

Anyone recognize what brand or which style toolbox this might go to? Looks too well done to be a home made, but not entirely out of the question. I pick these up whenever I see them for a good price in case I see a box without it.

Was kinda hoping the unique style handle might give it away. The larger socket tray compartment looks like it might be big enough for maybe some 3/4" drive sockets even.

That looks totally home-made to me. It is rough as a corncob. Every part appears to be bashed together.
You might fine a toolbox that it fits into. I don't think BEACH or WATERLOO ever made anything that ugly.
Here is a picture of a tool tray and some side cabinets I made in my shop. I use to build side cabinets and tool trays as one-off customs. This was a side hobby. I stopped building when getting paid became a problem.

Don't have a pic handy, but it may have come out of an old Waterloo box. My grandfather had one with a tray that looked just like that, same shape handle and side organizers he had filled with sockets. Wish I had it now. Had to tote it around the farm for him as a kid but after they sold their property everything down to nails was auctioned off. A similar box (no name) is on Etsy for sale. Oddly enough, he was a sheet metal worker. All his work boxes he made himself.

The layout of the tray is that of a WW2 GMTK toolbox although it’s lacking an Oiler hole and the odd handle is kind of unique. I went through this long thread and didn’t see an exact match to your tray.

Majn thing that makes me think it's not homebrew is how the handle connects to the tray. In my third pic, you can see that it has a factory style spot weld under the paint. Theres no sign of the typical hot iron solder job I usually see with the shop projects. Pics might make it look shoddier than it really is too. All the edges are straight, handles straight. I dunno, it'll hold my sockets and screwdrivers either way I guess! Lol

Ditto that. Factories back in the day didn't make tool boxes pretty, with nice sparkley paint jobs, they made them to hold tools.

Home made does not have to look like ****.
I worked for a large company. A few of the guys took their home-made skills to the bodyshop and made ugly tool trays for themselves. The company machinery was often pressed into service. Persons not familiar with the sheetmetal/body trade often damaged the machinery.
I often said, "Clueless in and clueless out."

My neighbour has a 75+ year old toolbox bottom roller. The fit and finish is fantastic. There are no hard corners. the corners are round. I have offered hundreds of dollars to this box.
My oldest tool cabinet is a 1961 Beach/Craftsman. It still works really well and looks like a modern unit.

Virtually identical to my Union Box & Tray, save for the lack of the oiler hole. If I'm not mistaken, other makers could have been producing to the same spec for the military.

Confirm your L x W in inches, and I can tell you if I have an extra box to match it. It is a "spray bomb" but if you want to marry this tray to something, we can work out shipping costs, and the box is yours for the taking. Alternatively, they aren't terribly rare, so you can wait and probably find a matching box in the wild.

Factory Made:
About a decade ago, one of my wife's joker friends gave her a metal Xmas tree. It was made in a factory, in China. The tree used two "D" cell batteries. When the tree switch was activated, the tree started to turn slowly. It made sounds that were recognisable as popular festive season music. The sound was like that of a tortured erhu.

We had some visitors who wanted to watch and listen to the tree thingee. "Shortly" after it was activated the tree came to an abrupt halt and the light ceased to flash. There was one last tortured gasp from the tiny speaker and smoke sated to escape. My son took the tree onto the back porch and tossed it onto the sidewalk, about halfway to the shop. The tree thingee started to operate again. The lights flashed, the tortured music restarted. The tree rocked back and forward until the batteries died. I took the tree to it's final resting place at the city transfer station with some other scrap. Thanks for the laughs, who ever you were who thought to re-gift this POS,
