Which C-Man Set is Most Complete?

I have a mixture of pawnshop finds for wrenches and socket sets. I would like to liquidate those, and just buy a new complete set of wrenches and sockets.

Trying to find 6mm-32mm and 1/4-1-5/16" both wrenches and sockets (deep and shallow of each, all drives)

Is there a C-Man tool set that has all this? I assume it would be cheaper in the long run to buy a set that has all this, plus a bunch of extras, that to piece together each smaller set. I haven't received a catalog in years and the website has issues with my browser when trying to sort the sets.

I really don't have a set budget, I just want matching tools. I must be OCD, because not having all the skip sizes in wrenches, and only have shallow of this drive size SAE, and only deepwell of that drive size metric, along with mismatched 6 and 12 point is driving me crazy.0

I just assumed that Craftsman doesn't offer a complete set of just wrenches and sockets. I already have 20+ ratchets, 40+ extensions, few hundred screw drivers, ETC, but selling it all off is not a problem for more than what I have in it all.

I think they do offer just socket or wrench sets, so you can grab every size socket from small to large from Craftsman. And also for wrenches. So maybe grab these and keep your ratchets and drivers?

I don't mind mix matched brands. :) If I were you, I'd just line up your sizes based on SAE or metric, and then divy them up on drive size, shallow or deep, then divy up based on 6 point or 12 point. And then fill in any gaps with sets or if you just need a few, then buy piece by piece on here or ebay. The extreme organization may satisfy your OCD. We all have it to a degree. We all don't want to be caught in a critical situation without having the proper size tool for the job. I took my smaller tool box over to the MIL's house to install some steps in her pool, and lo and behold, I didn't have a 5/16" socket, so I had to go back the next day.

I have C-man, Snap-On, Mac, Matco, Proto, etc.. 80% are C-Man, however. I really like the etched (easy to read) sockets that some Craftsman sockets have. Mine don't have that. I may have to buy some.

Don't go nuts. Craftsman does not make every size socket or wrench. Your racks will have empty spaces. LOL All the tools must match. LOL Don't tell them but if they don't they will never know. LOL

Don't try and buy once completed huge set. Check smaller sets. You can get some great buys and get tools for less than a $1 each. The C man 154 piece was on sale Monday for $79.99 Reg price is $150 but it does not have every size but for a home owner I bet you will never need much else in the way of sockets. I have several sets I bought used for $40 each. I keep them in the car and truck with other tools. Figure what tools you want and then see which ones you can find cheap. The old tools are US made and many of the new ones are not. Many of the tools in sets are small so don't go by the piece. Go by the major tools. I might go with the complete huge 308 piece set of sockets then buy better ratchets than you might find in most sets. Upgrading ratchets is a must. If you want the fully polished wrenches you seldom find them in a set with the sockets and when you do you will pay to much for them. Sears has some 1/2 price sales if you follow them close. Just my 3 cents worth.

Snap On dreams, Craftsman budget. Brand really doesn't matter to me, but I want complete sets. What brand can offer a complete set of wrenches, no skips, from 6-32mm and 1/4-1-5/16" for less than $199?

That's going to be tough to find a C-Man set with no skips that goes that big (32mm, 1 5/16"). Maybe stop by Sears and ask an associate. Maybe they have a strictly socket and wrench set that goes that high for under $199.

Speaking of sockets, what sizes are generally considered a full set for each drive? I have these currently (Cman, snapon, proto, cornwell, matco, mac, and more currently)

1/4" I dont even know how small I have them, up to 1/2" and 10mm
3/8" 6mm-19mm 1/4"-7/8"
1/2" 10mm-32mm+ a 36mm and 3/8"-1-1/2"

I would not buy any new craftsman sets unless you could find NOS USA made.
If you going to own a china made tool you might as well buy harbor freight for half the price.

Ha, when you're talking Craftsman, how much concern can the budget be? I just wouldn't pay more for a tool that is the same with a different logo on it.


Oh i've been reading reviews and it seems to me that the tool sets are still made in the USA.

my sets are as follows

1/4" 4-15mm, 3/16-9/16
3/8" 9-19mm , 1/4-1"
1/2" 10-32mm, 3/8"-1 1/2"
3/4" 3/4"-2 1/4"
comb wrenches 8-32mm, 1/8"-2" plus assorted angle wrenches, flare nut, ratcheting, and service wrenches

i have for the most part 2 sets of tools, 1 in my service truck, and another at home, sizes and type vary between tool sets.

When were the review written, 6 years ago? The wrenches and sockets "loose" are from the same supplier that makes the sets.....

Personally, I would pass on the c-man and look at SK or Wright tool. Might even look at stuff sold on GJ......

They carry the 540 piece set in the store - you can check to see if the box says made in USA, then double-check when inventorying everything. I picked up one last year with a sale + a % off coupon and got a screaming deal on it. It was still made in US stuff. I wouldn't wait too much longer though - pretty soon and even the big sets will be made in china.

That's all the sockets Craftsman sells. The set goes on sale every once in a while. I picked it up around $300 last year. I'm more than happy with the set. All the sockets were USA when I bought it and more than likely still are, it seems that most of the large sets still have USA made items.

This is what I am planning on too. Just waiting for the sale. I have about half that set, but to complete it, I'd end up spending more $ than buying the 299 pc. set. In addition, you can get the ratchets you want (might I recommend Titan or Kobalt).

Just a tip for anyone looking to buy C-man tools. I've been watching their prices for awhile now and I've found the best deals to be right on father's day or try looking on the sears outlet site. lots of people buy things and return them for whatever reason and it's still brand new(basically) and you can buy it for up to half off. No, I'm not a rep. I just have a few sets I'm looking to buy and I have time on my side. Good luck.
