I picked up this 1/2" drive ratchet today. Being a tool nerd, I'm familiar with the common ratchet designs and even a good number of the uncommon designs. This is like nothing I've personally seen before.

Judging by its general aesthetic I assumed it was European. But it has no company or COO info. It's only marked "chrome-vanadium."

Here are the details:
-24 tooth action
-9.75" long
-The head is riveted shut
-The reversing mechanism is the knurled ring around the head

What say you? Anyone seen anything like this before?

I'm going to guess what everyone thought my mystery ratchet was/is: Custom piece made for and shipped with a piece of machinery. Though why the maker would want/need to forge "chrome vanadium" in the handle, I'm not sure :dunno:

My guess would be Elora. I know they used the chrome vanadium mark at one time.

Hmmm...There are some Elora ratchets with a similar handle design, but the heads are completely different. If it was Elora, it would have been a vintage design. My googling hasn't turned up any Elora ratchets with a head like my ratchet.

Possibly made by Elora for someone else as a third party. Just because the head assy is different doesn't mean it's not Elora. but this is just conjecture... :dunno:
